Michelin Latitude Tour HPs vs Michelin Energy MXV4

2005 X5, 3.0 here.. around 50K miles... just went through our first set of Michelin Energy MXV4.

Tires we OK.. nothing great.. just wondering if I should just go with another set of the same or try the Michelin Latitude Tour HPs.

Thanks

I had the Latitudes and went back to the Michelin Energy MXV4. If it took you 50K to get thru them that's saying something but it just depends on what you want from a tire.

I'm not sure if I got 50K out of them.. car was a CPO so they may have been changed. The MVX4 was good grip wise but I feel it's a little noisy. Not sure what the noise level of the latitudes is.

Why did you switch back to the MVX4?

Better overall wear, traction and "NO NOISE" at all.

I have 18" tires and I had the MVX4 prior to the Latitudes, and the Latitudes are much better overall.
I did noticed that the Latitudes tramline and hydroplane a lot in my use. I'm due for new tires as well, however, I'm planning on getting Continental ExtremeContact DWS. The Latitudes cost 50% more than the Continentals and have lower editor and user ratings (on TireRack.com).

Unfortunately, I'm restricted to the two Michelins. Between the two Michelins, you think the Latitude was better?

Thanks

Why are you restricted to the two Michelins? There are Lot's of tires that one can put on a 2005 X5. :dunno:

Because I'm planning on getting the tires from Costco. The all-season tires available there are:

Michelin - Energy™ MXV4® Plus
Michelin - Latitude® Tour HP (104V)
Michelin - Latitude® Tour HP (104H)
Bridgestone - Dueler H/L Alenza

Not sure but I believe you can order just about any tire you want from costco. Takes a week. Why not ask and see what they say?
