i tried to upgrade my headlights HID from 35w to 55w ..but apparently there the ballast connection on the headlight is different from any other ballast connection out there i was wondering if there is ballast out there that sells a 55w for 2006 headlight ..i have attach the ballast on what it looks like and maybe someone here (mrbmw) can help me find it...

What did you order? Just the HID D2S bulbs? If so you need to remove the clip on picture #6 and remove the ignitor to swap out the bulb.
If you need good/best bulbs go here...

Your car already came with factory xenon system, you don't need to buy another ballast for it .

yes @ mrbmw i had 35w 6k on the headlights....and ordered another set that is 55w...but did not realize that i cant change the igniter and ballast with just regular hid set up....so i ended up just using the 55w bulbs on a factory set up....but now my question is ...do they sell the factory ones for 55w set up?....or am i just out of luck and 35w set up is what i can ONLY do on the headlight.

No OEM 55w, IIRC. However you can put this in http://www.ddmtuning.com/Products/DD...ast-35W-or-55W
They have 55W ballast and D2S/R bulb

thanks...i ordered the kit...but the OEM ballast is different plug from the regular plug and play we put.....

Ok, here it is with the lens temporarily placed in front. Sorry for the crappy picture, should be better in daylight.

Bumping this thread for light output shots we never got to see!

Love the corner reflector trimming, that's the best I've seen yet (when its removed completely it looks like something is missing!)

also, sending you PM, perhaps you'd be interested in sending me your 2003 lights (no ballasts needed) I'm thinking of being a madman and trying a retrofit and testing my picking and prying methods to open the permasealed lights. You'd get my great condition 2003 lights in return when the project is successful and you'd like to have a spare set back.

Very embarrasing but the project went slowly until I got to installing the projector in the second high beam then stalled completely. I am building a second floor on what was originally a ranch house and so these days I barely have enough time to change the oil, much less work on mods.....

The extended wheel arches for my e70 are still unopened 6 months after I bought them. This summer I hope to have a day or two spare time to get back to the lights, etc.

Can you elaborate in more detail from page 2 how you "shortened the projector mounting posts" to get the projector to sit 1/2" forward, enabling you to clip on the E46 shroud?

I'm looking at doing a similar retrofit soon and would like to know how to "get enough room" so I could clip a new shroud over the projector, one that fills the gap more that you see once the waffle lens is removed.

Thanks!
