I have a feeling it is your brakes. Check your caliper bracket bolts. Make sure they are tight. Also check the caliper hardware, like the pad shims, and all other stuff. Think of your symptoms. You go back, you get the clunk because your brakes shifted back. Within 5 feet of going forward, your brakes shifted forward. Clunk. I'm thinking brakes.

Things in the suspension I'd check Ball Joints, Control arms, Tie Rods, and Sway Bar Links. I've had a few customers with strange clucking sounds find out they had a worn sway bar end link causing enough movement for the sways to cause the noise. Sorry to bring up an old thread but wanted to report that I had a front end clunk when going over bumps. I ordered a set of new OEM End Links (from ECS Tuning) and I swapped them out on each side. Clunk is now gone. :thumbup:
