Another Front Suspension Clunk Thread

Did some searching around already.. so dont freak on me guys..

Anyway, I get a clunk from my front suspension.. usually happens when i Reverse out of a parking spot, and then turn the wheel and put into drive, within the first 5 feet, i can feel a clunk. It is almost as if there was built up pressure on one of the components, and moving it the other way, made it release and go back to a different position.

I've heard things from ball joints to bushings (they were done last year). Which suspension components should i be replacing..

oh and PS, my normal shop gave me a BS answer on this, i think he was too lazy to change parts, any recommendations in Northern NJ?

indy said everything looked "ok" and that the front wheel was moving a bit, but he didnt think anything needed to be replaced. Honestly, i think my indy has become lazy

Quick self suspension check.... throw the front up on jacks./stands.

Grab the tire top and bottom and feel for play/looseness
then grab the tire left side and right side and perform the same test. any clunk, click, movement, looseness is your first sign to finding the clunk.

OR... take it back to the indy, have him jack it up and do the same

Check your tie rod ends.

Did you discover the culprit? A neighbor had same issue recently, we traced to a combination of tie rod's and ball joint on lower control arms.

I replaced my upper control arms and it was 95% fixed. Good enough for me. I plan on doing lower control arms soon.

I'm starting to get another small clunk on turns now... Holding off on repair bc I'm going abroad next semester and car will be sitting for 4 months..

Thanks for the advice. Pretty scary at how many front suspension parts need to be replaced at this mileage

Ahhh what the crappp!!!! Well mine finally gave out. Over the past year, I kept getting this clunk when going over a speed hump (Damn NJDOT) almost like the front end is loose and now driving it, hitting the brakes at 75mph, I get a vibration. My discs are prob shot because when I replaced the brakes, I reused the rotors. Onto another project I guess. oiiii. Looking for those Meyle HD bushings but I can't find them anywhere. ECS or that link that Weasel put in his post doesn't work anymore.

Hey Weasel, care to share a new link. Orrrrrr, how about we pull the bushings from the the 4.6??? Oi when I read that, my heart sank. Thank god you were ok from that.

check those chopstics...the stablelize control link.

I woke up this morning and noticed that the left driver side of my truck was lower than usual. I have an appointment later today to see what the problem is. I can lower and raise all four air bags, so my guess is that the front strut has a leak.
