When I removed the latch (pictured) two weeks ago, I cleaned up the old grime / grease around all moving parts, hit it with electrical cleaner and then compressed air for a good 4-5 minutes, and re-greased the latch, cables, etc.
Yesterday I finally decided to plug the fuse back in (before taking the door apart again) just to see if the problem remained, or if the symptoms were any different from a month ago. Interestingly, the interior lights worked exactly as they should (as outlined in the service manual), with no issues at all. When I checked it this morning, all was still well. From this I am concluding that a) the culprit was in fact the driver's side door latch (since I didn't touch any other door), and b) I may have somehow removed debris from around the hall sensors that was effecting the voltage. Possibly? Anyway, I warned my wife that the problem could return, so she should keep an eye on it, but for now it appears to work. What do you guys think? |
Cleaning it could have helped, but unplugging and plugging it back in may have cleaned up the contacts in the harness as well.
If it is working, I would do exactly as you outline, leave it and make a mental note to all drivers to see if it happens again. |
Will do - thanks Jeff!
