Wheel Speed Sensors
 

Can someone please verify this for me. How many wheel speed sensors are on the vehicle because I am trying to replace them as it is a culprit of my Fail Safe Mode Trans, but when I go on Auto Parts Warehouse, they have a ton of them for the E53 4.4i. Some of them say ABS speed sensor and some of them say wheel mounting speed sensor. I am going to guess and say there is only 4 since there are 4 tires but knowing BMW I could be wrong. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Four, one at each wheel. Look at realoem.com for the parts book, instead of at a web site of will-fit parts.

Use your actual date of production for your specific part numbers.

Standard approach is to check the codes and only replace the one that has failed, not all of them. To confirm that is the sensor, and not a downstream problem in the wiring, you can move the sensor to the opposite wheel, and see if the fault moves there. Your call.
