Four, one at each wheel. Look at realoem.com for the parts book, instead of at a web site of will-fit parts.

Realoem.com
E53 4.4i USA pick your year (I used 2003, because I used to have an 03/2003) Browse Parts Front Axle Front Axle Suspension Front Spring Strut/Carrier/Wheel Bearing Item #10 RealOEM.com * BMW E53 X5 4.4i Front Spring strut/Carrier/Wheel bearing Rear Axle Rear Axle Suspension Rear Axle Support Item #23 RealOEM.com * BMW E53 X5 4.4i REAR AXLE SUPPORT/WHEEL SUSPENSION Use your actual date of production for your specific part numbers. Standard approach is to check the codes and only replace the one that has failed, not all of them. To confirm that is the sensor, and not a downstream problem in the wiring, you can move the sensor to the opposite wheel, and see if the fault moves there. Your call. Jeff
