Found the sensor at FCPEuro for $190 Bosch OEM. Cheapest from the dealer is $543 at thebmwminipartstore.com.

I'll go for the Bosch from FCPEuro since they have life-time replacement. From the product description it sounds like this is an important safety component, hence I'd rather replace it than code it out:

Ok, found another post referring to the same fix as suggested here. Replacing the sensor is not a proven fix. I'd hate to replace it in vain. This issue may just be a glitch in the E53. A faulty yaw sensor results the abs triangle light showing on the dash, at least per my online searches. You get a clear indication there's an issue if that sensor is faulty.

And what is this sensor actually for? Well, in extreme situation if your car starts sliding sideways and you apply brakes this sensor will provide data for "brake force distribution" in order to try to help you to regain control of the vehicle. So since your unit is not going to do its job anyways because it is giving you error, you can just tell the car to not look at it at all. Or, now when you know what it does and how to fix it, you can change this sensor. In my car it is located below central console and radio, on the floor of the car.

Good stuff. I just started noticing this fault code as well. I'm just going to ignore. No CEL's, no performance issues, no problem.

Any progress on this issue? I have had it on my x5 since I bought it 3 years ago. It’s the last error that shows up on my scanner and it really niggles me that I can’t get rid of it.

I'm yet to replace the Yaw Sensor (also called Rotational Speed Sensor) for Dynamic Stability Control (DSC), but EBV can be coded out as discussed in prior posts. The EBV error may be a false positive if the brake warning light is not illuminated in the instrument cluster:
