Radio on, no sound= bad amp. At least in my case. When I replaced it the harness connection had that nice bluish corrosion all over it (water must have got to it). Have your husband at least pull the current amp and inspect it. I would assume he would see something similar. I cleaned it all up and $420 later (cost of replacement non-dsp amp) all good.
