now..
T H A T is a photo tour.. Much thanx for all the work! (noted that the gloves and pretty pliers were missing from the first photo though :p: ) |
What's the reason for the gasket gel?
|
Perfect! We were missing the 3.0 DIY in the articles and now we have a very complete instruction set.
|
Thanx for this great DIY:) I imagine this would be the same for a 4.4? or is there anything different that would have to be done...other than adding two more Spark Plugs?
|
I have a 4.4 but enjoyed that! One of the better photographic walk throughs for mechanically unsound people like me
|
Phr3d, i forgot to include pliers but we can use flat phillips screwdriver or even ginger nail to pry out these plastic retainers.
dkl, i did not apply gasket gel all the way round the cylinder head but only 4 places where they designed room for camshafts. Miniz guy - yes there is no DIY for this in the article section. So it should help us to have one DIY in that section. If i have time, I will post DIY Engine belt, AC belt, pulley and tensioner + pulley in the forum tonight. At first, I was thinking just replace spark plug but when I pulled sparks out of their housing, I saw oil on spark threads and washer so I decide to replace Valve cover gasket. |
j/k StartX5, I was pretty sure you had borrowed the pliers from me, my kit being older than me, which my kids assure me exceeds dirt.
just replaced the belts, wish I had waited.. again, Great Work ('lotta work to document and post) |
Great DIY!

This is right on time! Was just changing plugs and coils this afternoon and number 3 was full of oil, so this is next.
BTW, my local euro-repair shop quoted $243 for labor and $19 for sealant on this job and they are much cheaper than the dealer. Thx for the pro writeup! |
