Does the main unit have a code (re)setting via pins or what have you? If it does, then get a true universal remote and code it the same as the main unit.


Otherwise if the opener has the standard "two wire" connection from the receiver, you could grab a new remote AND receiver and hook it up. You would have to reprogram your Homelink X5 though.

Main unit has 9 pins, I tried that with both Universal (9 pins, same frequency) and Overhead (9 pins same frequency) and nothing worked, it is really strange, the X5 does not know about the Pins and yet it can "communicate" with my old (still working) remote. Homelink system on the X5 is really amazing actually. I wish I could find a remote that could do the same. I have given up at this point, I have bought and returned 5 different remotes by now.

I was going to buy the Skylink system (transmitter) but it has horrible reviews on Amazon, door opening by itself in the middle of the night, remote not working unless 5 feet from the transmitter.
