:iagree: I had the option to go for a newer X5 but couldn't bring myself to do it. The E53 to me is just plain sexy in the 4.8is trim. The 07 and newer models have been too rounded over for my taste.
Kinda reminds me of the change ford made to the F150 back in 97. It went round and bubble like and I just couldn't get myself to adjust.

ya...i miss the chunkier lines of the e53, bmw is starting to irritate me, haha

Before I bought my 4.8is I was discussing my preference with a female co-worker. She asked to see pictures of both "cars" because she couldn't understand why I would go out of my way to find an "outdate" car.

So I found a picture of each online and showed them to her. Right away she said "Oh, I really like the newer one. It looks just like my sisters new KIA".

It took all the restraint I could muster to not slap her.

I would not base opinion on a bad CGI by someone who is guessing and has no clues whatsoever from BMW. These auto mags are not doing good financially these days and hire CGI artists for cheap. Last year C&D's CGI artist copied Jon Sibal's CGI for their cover. http://jalopnik.com/5527126/how-car-...e-artists-work

That is not how the next X5 will look like even remotely. That thing looks like Buick.

Take a look at thread below dedicated to next gen X5 and lets continue discussion there.

Exactly. My first thought was it looks like a Japanese car.

I agree, you can't really base anything on car mag artist renderings. I imagine it looking like a larger X3 with some styling ques from the new 3. With rumors that it's shedding 500lbs, it's going to be a leap forward.
