I would guess your sending unit is going bad.

That is my guess as well. not sure if that's the part, but check against realoem.com.

Yea that part is the part number I found on real oem site cuz its that or the whole fuel pump but the truck has no issue starting

Look at the parts diagram here

RealOEM.com * BMW E53 X5 4.4i Fuel pump and fuel level sensor

You have two fuel senders, due to the saddle tank; the right one is combined with the pump. It could be either left or right.

How hard is it to take those out? If not too hard, remove, and inspect. Maybe something is sticking.

They are a little fiddly to take out, but not too difficult. Be very careful with the pipe fittings on top as the plastic nozzles can be brittle and if you break them you then need to replace the whole unit(s). Also the pipes on my 2006 3.0D were fitted with some sort of use once clamp, so you will need to be able to replace these. I used nylon cable ties to refit my pipe and they seem to have worked ok.

Also be very careful not to bend the wire holding the float as this is quite flimsy and more often than not could be the cause of your misread.

I had to remove both my senders to drain my tank after I received a bad load of diesel. Even though my X is diesel the the units seem identical to the OEM page posted by JCL
