Regarding your grounding from the head unit, are you grounding it directly from the head unit's frame? Or are you splicing into the black wire of the Fakra cable at the point where it is leading into the head unit?

just realized you are in irvine that's like a stone's throw away from me. I didn't use the fakra i used existing oem wiring that was in the car already. The gauge of the wires was a bit thin for the ground and power. So I'm thinking about just redoing those all together. I did a double ground right at the back of the unit at the end of the wiring harness. Found the ground and just tapped it there with one that was already on there as well. Finding a ground was difficult so I had to run a wire to the center console in order to get it to work. P.I.T.A. it got rid of the alternator pretty good... or maybe I just don't hear it anymore.

Interesting that you wired it directly to the oem wiring. Did you wire the speaker output wires from the Dynavin also? It looks like you used RCA cables from your install, but I was wondering what you did with the speaker output wires (e.g. the white/black, grey/black, purple/black, etc. wires for the speaker line outs...NOT the RCA output)

I was looking at the wiring diagram on top of the Dynavin head unit, and I have a crazy theory if these are interfering with sound somehow (since the Dynavin was originally intended for non DSP setup, so the audio output would have been run with these wires instead of going through the hassle of the RCA outputs)

I used rca cables as described in my write up. I clipped off those wires as I didn't need them. In fact I cut off the entire.plug you plug into the fakra. No use. I used the wires i did need and tapped them to the appropriate oem ones for illumination power and ground. That's about it. How r u liking the unit? Seems I keep running into things that bother me about the unit. Instead of patching a unit they come out with new ones.

Ps have you rooted your Android side yet? Thinking about using m3 evolution ROM from the e46 boards.

Not yet, I haven't played with the Android side yet since I'm totally focused on getting rid of the alternator whine noise at the point.

try an additional ground wire. Jeff told me it's likely a bad ground. All of my units have done it. I've had 4-5 installed in my vehicle. Some sent back due to poor craftsmanship and one i sold.

Thanks, I'll give it a try as well.

Keep us posted on this as well.

Blkxer, was the dash wide open already or did you have to cut the dash for the dynavin? I was following other posts and the folks had to cut the radio cage to get the Dynavin to fit.
