I just did the high beams one thanks. Where did you find what the wert_01 equals to?

wert = "value" in German

in bmwcoding.com, there was a line on E60 for FL_BIXENON - wert 01 for the desired operation. E53 did not have that line in coding but i bumped into FL_BIX in my file by accident and took a chance in changing value... it worked...

same went for the rear fog light programming, that RickyBobby and I worked together to resolve... trial and error...

Ricky Bobby 10-30-2015 10:17 AM

^Exactly, a lot of it is trial and error and as new features are tried/found thats why the list keeps growing

Anyone know why I could not get the fasten seat belt gong to go away or the one-click unlock all doors?

See the coding I used on page 9.

Where do I find how to code? I have the software and cables but have only done diagnostic. I would love to remove the double pull on inside door handle to open door. One pull would nice to have. I would also like to have the key fob unlock the entire car instead if just the drivers door with one single click

TerminatorX5 12-05-2015 02:21 AM

double pull is a mechanical feature and not programming - most German cars have it... single push can be done. check bmwcoding.com for more info

OK, I successfully coded several items in GM3 and LCM. After all of the reading and video watching I did, I was going to write down the steps before I got started, but hunds02's steps below were perfect to print out for this. (thanks!)

1. Load Expert Profile

2. Hit f1

3. Hit f3

4. Pick e53

5. Pick EWS to read your vin into the system

6. Hit f6 to go back.

7. Now you have to start reading the modules. You can only code one at a time.

8. Hit f4 to bring up the module specific menu (Process ECU)

9. Pick the gm3 for example, then select OK

10. Go to f2, change job. The default here is SG_codiren which is write, you need to select, codiren lessen, which is read. (Mine was Codirendaten_lessen)

11. Now select f3, which is execute job. In the work folder you will see the trc file.

Make a back-up of .trc file

EDIT CODES NOW
To upload the changes.

Save .trc file to .man

Go to f2, and select sg-codiren,

Then f3 to execute.

Then I was getting ready to do the digital speedo in KMB, so I was reading the instructions for that in the ReadMe file that came with the software from the Romanian guy. He has the added step below of selecting 'coapiReadSgGetFswPsw', which I had also seen something about on some of the videos. I didn't do this with the first two modules I coded and it seemed to work fine - is this necessary with some modules but not others?

From the ReadMe file:

13. Search for the option “BC_DIGITAL_V” and change the value from “nicht_aktiv” to “aktiv”

14. File >save

15. Back to NCS now hit F5 for basic functions

16. Select “coapiReadSgGetFswPsw” and ok.. you are basically telling NCS to read all the values
from your FSW_PSW.MAN file. You will see a screen similar to this just press ok.

17. Then you should get this.

18. Press ok.

19. Ok now take a look where it says “JOBNAME = CODIERDATEN_LESEN”

20. We need to change that to a coding function because we want to write the changes to the module.

21. Select F2 “job” select SG_CODIEREN and press ok

22. Then press F3 to execute the job. Will gray out for some time.. now you will see this . notice the “coding ended’ message

You can see the digital speed in the hidden test menu-

But as far as coding, there is no easy way to enable digital speed with the e53 chassis.
I don't think anyone has done it with e53, certainly can't do it just by changing a value in NCS expert. :saad:

OK, thanks. That wasn't real important to me anyhow, but for the general question, is there any need for me to ever do this step about selecting “coapiReadSgGetFswPsw”. I didn't use that step last night when coding LCM and GM3 and those changes worked fine without it.

I know a lot of people just code only using NCS expert on its own; but I believe you can see everything much clearly using NCS Dummy to change options, it also enables you to decompile, and modify and add parameters, free to download;
Here is an example of coding with it:

Thats all I do with my E46 and E53. I use NCS Expert to read and create a .trc file (codeiren lesen) from whatever module I want to modify and then open in NCS Dummy, make changes, export as .man file and process module back with NCS Expert (sg codeiren)
