in bmwcoding.com, there was a line on E60 for FL_BIXENON - wert 01 for the desired operation. E53 did not have that line in coding but i bumped into FL_BIX in my file by accident and took a chance in changing value... it worked...

same went for the rear fog light programming, that RickyBobby and I worked together to resolve... trial and error...

My LCM.C22 firmware doesn't have either of these settings for BIXENON or BIX. My E53 is a 2004 with adaptive headlights AHL and automatic light control FLC. I set the fog lights to remain on with high beams but I really wanted to join the 6 lights on crowd... :saad:

Then I was getting ready to do the digital speedo in KMB, so I was reading the instructions for that in the ReadMe file that came with the software from the Romanian guy. He has the added step below of selecting 'coapiReadSgGetFswPsw', which I had also seen something about on some of the videos. I didn't do this with the first two modules I coded and it seemed to work fine - is this necessary with some modules but not others?

From the ReadMe file:

13. Search for the option “BC_DIGITAL_V” and change the value from “nicht_aktiv” to “aktiv”

14. File >save

15. Back to NCS now hit F5 for basic functions

16. Select “coapiReadSgGetFswPsw” and ok.. you are basically telling NCS to read all the values
from your FSW_PSW.MAN file. You will see a screen similar to this just press ok.

17. Then you should get this.

18. Press ok.

19. Ok now take a look where it says “JOBNAME = CODIERDATEN_LESEN”

20. We need to change that to a coding function because we want to write the changes to the module.

21. Select F2 “job” select SG_CODIEREN and press ok

22. Then press F3 to execute the job. Will gray out for some time.. now you will see this . notice the “coding ended’ message

Where is step 12?

Hi All,

Would someone with an '04+ with DSP and Nav be able to post their FSW_PSW file for the TCU? I would really appreciate it. I'm specifically interested in the DSP_PROFILE field, but would like to see the rest as well.

Thank you!!

Thank you!!

So what has happened to the original ZCS? Or have you retrofitted some parts?

All the bits are found in NCSEXPER/DATEN/E53ZST file. Or you can use BMW Zeko software to help building new ZCS.

Hi! Beat me to editing my first post. Yes, exactly. I have retrofitted an 05 TCU to my 03 M5 but the coding is incorrect. As the M5 never came with a TCU (only ULF), I am unable to manipulate it properly.
I used a ZCS from a '01 X5 with DSP and was able to code the TCU with NCS Expert with the default settings. The "DSP_PROFILE" setting changed from "1" to "2", yet I still have no audio. My assumption is the the ZCS needs to factor in that the car has a BM53 rather than MID. Unfortunately I cannot change this as no '01 X5s (only year w/ ZCS) supported the option.
To clarify, I had done the same exact retrofit in my past 03 540 with zero issues, plug and play. that TCU had come out of an X5 with matching options (NAV and DSP).

So you retrofitting TCU from 2005 E53 into 2003 E39 (M5) and that E39 has nav screen (BM53 radio module) and DSP (Top Hifi audio)?

Hi,

Yes exactly. the later DSP cars have the TCU connected directly to the amplifier, rather than going through the BM like the earlier ones. Somehow the 09/2002+ E39s followed the same exact wiring schematic as the later E53s. This is why that DSP_PROFILE field in the FSW needs to be correct and mirrored from a late X5.

Thanks!

What are you exactly tying to gain by changing ULF to TCU?

I used a TCU in the 540 and now the M5 as they are much easier to find and often newer. Since both cars are pre-wired, all I've had to do is install the microphone and BT antenna.
The M5 pairs with my phone and shows the address book. But when I start a call there is no audio hence the need for coding.

So just to add some closure on this, I bought another TCU from an ‘06 X5 and it worked perfectly even without proper coding. I guess all along the previous one was faulty. As an added bonus the voice control works!
