I wish it weren't true, but X's have a rep as a "chick car" arounnd NY/NJ/LI, especially the 3.0's. The V8 X's are driven more by men, but the "layman" out there rarely know the difference. It's too bad, because I don't see it as such. |

Must be a local thing (either your locale, or mine). The X5 doesn't have that reputation here. The X3 does, but I don't think it is justified, I like the X3. Anyway, to expand on my previous comment, I do know the difference and I do care. :) I would probably take the I6 if it was the same price in an X5, the V8 is a small negative to me. Towing such as withidl does is probably the only reason I would consider the V8, and I don't have a trailer at the moment. I never understood racing in the X5. It is a very competent vehicle, but the best way to get better performance IMO is to take off weight, not to add power, within the limits of street driving. I probably have the Z4 3.0 (note the inline 6...) for the same reason you have the 'vette, it is much more performance than an X5, whatever engine or wheel package the X5 has. |

Also, I can't remember the last time I saw an X3 on the road around here, it seems that people go X5 3.0 before they drop to an X3. But that's just my observation.... maybe Rangerfan can tell us how they're perceived in CT, it's the same demographic as LI. |
I would have to go with the 4.4 as well......Fantastic engine!
|
I would vote for the 4.4i too, becLaguna.

actually the 4.4 is listed as better mileage than the 3.0 :wow: - all 3 choices sound like winners  - personally, I gave up black, white, and in between when color TV was invented, but I'm one of the few here who grew up watching "The Lone Ranger" and "Superman" in B/W :D
