Dilemma
Hi everyone.
I'm trying to make a decision about an X5 purchase and would be interested in some feedback. I currently own a '02 X5 3.0 with 82,000 miles. I purchased it new and have enjoyed the ride :) . I am going to give my X5 to my 67 year old mother and buy something new (or newer). I have been watching the the different models of cars and suv's on the market waiting to be inspired but nothing gets my attention like an X5. I still think it's one of the best all around vehicles on the road. I have seen a few photos and artist conceptions for the next generation X5 but I think I like the current model better. So...I have been out shopping this week and it comes down to three vehicles. 1.) 2006 X5 3.0, silver/ black, prem., sport, rear climate, xenon, auto., mats. $51770 list. Can buy for $48,800 plus fees. I like the color :) 2.) new 2005 leftover (dealer received end of year money from the factory) 2005 X5 3.0, toledo blue/ truffle, prem. sport, rear climate, nav, xenon, auto. $52770 list. Dealer will include CD changer and sell for $44,900 plus fees. I like the equipment...not sure about the color  3.) used 2005 X5 4.4, silver/ black 10,000 miles, BMW certified w/ extended warranty, prem. sport, 19" wheels, auto. can buy for $45,000 -$46,000. This X5 looks and smells new. I like the way a 4.4 feels but am satisfied with a 3.0. As you can see, all 3 are priced very close. #1 is where I'm leaning but #3 is less money and more... "X5". #2 seems like a good value but not sure about the color combo. Your comments are appreciated! Thank you |
i would go for the 4.4 10k on that car is nothing and with the CPO and the extended warranty and color combo its a great deal i think. just to give you a comparison i bought a '02 4.4 black saphire metallic on black, with nav, sport, prem, winter, etc... for 37k + fees so for a 05 45k is probably a sweet deal

Seems like a good dilemma to have; all three options are great. I say, forget about the first option, because all you're going to get with 2006 that you won't be the other two is the guage rings. While I think the Toledo blue/truffle color combo would be absolutely beautifuful, you've already had a 3.0, why not get yourself a 4.4 this time :) . If you look around, I'm sure you can find a great low milege 2005 4.4i with the options you want. Let us know which way you go. :goodluck:
btw, :xoutpost: |
Get the 4.4. Six cylinder vs. V8?? :wow: ;)
|
Go for the 4.4, almost same gas mileage as the 3.0 but has the extra power whenever you need it.
|
I would go for option #2. Great options, fantastic deal and a schwank color combo. V8 power is nice but the I6 is a sweetheart of an engine IMO.
No matter which one you choose in the end you won't be disappointed. :driver: |
Option 3 would be my pick. Won't regret getting the V8. Personally not fond of color combo on #2. Either way, all nice X's.
|
My first choice would be option 2, then option 1. The V8 would be my last choice, partly because it is not new and partly due to the V8 (the 70% of X5 purchasers who chose the I6 can't be wrong).

70% of X5 owners are women who don't know nor care about the difference between the 6 and the 8 :) |
Find a 4.8is, your decision would be much easier : )
