I Had My Seats Recovered...
My seats were already cracked, faded, and worn but wearing True Religion jeans with the big buttons on them signaled the death of them. Two big slices thru the drivers seat revealing the white innards underneath prompted me to bite the bullet and have them recovered after researching many seat cover options.
I was going out of town for a couple of weeks so I had the car dropped off while I was gone but it was dropped off on Monday morning and was ready to be picked up Wednesday late afternoon. I had leather seats initially but chose leatherette for the recover 1) because there wasnt much of a difference in appearance, 2) cost, and 3) because I will likely get a new car in the spring and didnt want to spend too much. The recover including center console ran less than $1000. I initially didnt even think about recovering the center console until I got home and saw how out of place it now looked. I wound up taking it back and had him cover the console the reverse of the seats, grained leatherette in the center, perforations at the side. I had the slimline bass box installed about two years ago and the upholsterer did a nice framing job. Everything looks really clean and neat and I am quite satisfied with the results. http://i638.photobucket.com/albums/u.../IMG_13171.jpg http://i638.photobucket.com/albums/u.../IMG_13161.jpg http://i638.photobucket.com/albums/u.../IMG_12081.jpg http://i638.photobucket.com/albums/u.../IMG_12071.jpg http://i638.photobucket.com/albums/u.../IMG_12061.jpg http://i638.photobucket.com/albums/u.../IMG_12051.jpg http://i638.photobucket.com/albums/u.../IMG_12041.jpg http://i638.photobucket.com/albums/u.../IMG_12031.jpg http://i638.photobucket.com/albums/u.../IMG_12021.jpg http://i638.photobucket.com/albums/u.../IMG_12011.jpg http://i638.photobucket.com/albums/u.../IMG_12001.jpg |
it looks like heavily modified 3.0, isn't it? I see the aftermarket nav system, white gauges, M sport wheel... nice...
The upholstery looks really nice, front and back are matching, the placement of the sub is cool... Does the rear center console have to be open for the subwoofer to function, or the console cover is perforated for the sound to pass? how much would it have been for leather? |
Looks nice! The perforated leather looks especially good.

wow for less than 1000 that is a beautiful job. where did you get it done? my leather isnt cracked but i'll keep it in mind for a while down the line, i'd like to get perforated leather.
the leatherette is so much more durable too, the True Religions def can handle it now! |
Very nice interior!
And, nice outside mods, too...good to see another 5 spd manual. Makes my '01 X stock interior look like my Vette, by comparo to that redo of Ldiggs's... GL, mD |

Living in Brooklyn,NY, I needed something that would conceal the bass box from hungry eyes but would allow the sound to pass thru. I still have the second, more attractive, but less concealing cover if anybody is interested in doing this mod themselves. The leather option was an additional $500 and wasnt worth it in my opinion. http://i638.photobucket.com/albums/u.../IMG_03171.jpg |

Ricky B, yes the leatherette IS more durable but i think it feels hotter than the leather on a hot day. I got it done at Suns Auto Interiors at 246 E 125 St between 2/3av in Harlem NYC 10035. (212) 426-5778. The older Asian gentleman Sam that did it is somewhat difficult to communicate with but his craftsmanship is excellent. If anybody goes to him, show him a pic of my car on your smartphone, perhaps he will cut u a break. |
Wow you interior looks new again! Congrats!

Looks simply GREAT !! And the idea to install a subwoofer in the rear armrest ..... WOW.
Have fun, Helmuth |
