That was my bad. You guys are right. I was thinking about the Audi's trunk lib that has a same looking tumbler.
Continue, lol |
nope, cant get the door open. its locked down tight.
even took a coat hanger and reached in and pulled the handle back in an attempt to unlock it from the inside and that didnt work either. just pulled back to the stop and never moved the lock plunger. any other ideas before i take a brick to the window? with that said, I am assuming the sunroof would be the easiest glass to replace, right? So if i can find a good used sunroof glass, it should be tinted already, and i wont have to worry about replacing the drivers glass which involves a lot more work. |
No, side glass is easier to replace than the sunroof. Sun roof you need to drop the headliner and realign the cassette. Side window is just bolt on with minimal adjusting. I mean can you slip a this rod between the door pillar and frame? If you can get passed the gasket and door seal, you could just the central locking button to unlock the doors and see if that would work.
Also I think AAA has an air bag that is thin. It fits between the door and pillar to pry the door open just enough to fit something between. |

also, like i said getting the door open enough to fit a coat hanger in isnt an issue. just cant do anything with it once i get it in there. pulling the door handle does no good, and it isn't stiff enough to push the central locking button anyhow. |
Ok, don't you wish the window regulator was busted now so you can slide the glass down lol.
Did you try pulling the handles on the other doors? |

I wonder if it is possible to push down hard enough on the glass to break through the plastic clips on the regulator; or push on the bottom of the glass the get it off the tracks and slide the glass down? I am just throwing ideas out there to have smashing the glass the last resort.

There are some BMW techs that will give you a secret hint to get in the X. It's not published on here for security purposes....they usually do it via PM. Maybe call the dealership and see what they say.
Hold out longer so others can help you....before you break a window. |
sent you a PM with a possible solution....not sure if it's right way...but sure seems like many thieves use this method. It may not work if your central locking isn't working though....can't tell if it or isn't in your post.

Hint, coat hanger.
