Great price on that. I bought mine from OEMBimmerParts, I think it was made by ACM.

When mine quit, it started making noise, then wouldn't spin. If I put the AC on MAX and smacked the dash with the bottom of my fist, it would often get it moving again. I swapped in a known good FSR and it was definitely the blower; the brushes were just toast, not much left of them. Just take your time, and be methodical. The only tricky bit is unlatching the front edge of the center console without breaking the tabs. While I had it apart, I replaced the ignition switch, and added strips of dynamat and/or felt to anything that might rattle. Here's a photo for inspiration.

Great shot Scott, thank you. It looks like you did not have to pull the center console out, only loosened and pulled back?

That's correct; there are about a dozen screws that hold it in place, and a weird U bracket under the flasher switch. I seem to recall that the forward edge of the console has to be unclipped/released from the base of the dash in order to get the dash out. There are two or three tabs that hold it together.

I had a friend to help and keep the center console slightly lifted and angled at the rear so the tabs between console and dash could be separated.

I gotta pull my center console at some point. Not looking forward to that!

Great tips guys, thank you so much. Not having to completely removing the console looks like it could save at least an hour. I also like the suggestion of replacing the ignition switch while it is this far apart.

I would also renew the FSR anyways. While everything is apart you can clearly see the locking clips of FSR and those are usually not seated properly unless you give some aid from the back side. Not a great problem if the locking tabs are not fully seated but easier to be done when the dash is out. Not clearly related to this task but if you remove the FSR connector clean those round pins properly and use some contact paste. I've seen one E53 where poor contact on those pins caused a fire/melt down and the main portion of the dash melted. What a mess repairing all those wiring looms under dash.

Another great suggestion on the FSR Clavurion. The biggest problem at the moment is that I am one of the estimated 2.5 billion people worldwide affected financially by job loss or furlough from the COVID-19 pandemic. I have been out of work for a month now and will probably not be back to work until June sometime (hopefully). I had to move things around to even order the blower motor. :banghead:
