Mine has the LEDs. Not sure if it's the factory BMW version or some aftermarket version.

No error message, all bulbs working great, very bright, no issues to report.

I think ECS (forum sponsor) sells that kit too, maybe they can price it better than your dealer.

Error messages are for exterior lights, I replaced all of my interior lights in my 2002 4.6is with LED lights I purchased off Ebay, I didn't come anywhere close to spending $125.

Did you lose the interior dimming with LEDs?

Can you point to which one you bought, would be helpful to get the same since you didn't experience any issues?

Nope you won't lose interior dimming.

OP, I used to buy all my LEDs off superbrightleds.com but their prices have gone up significantly in the last 8 years since I started buying from them.

I went with a few sellers on amazon believe it or not, they sell good stuff there as well. Just make sure you are getting SMD leds (higher quality and brightness) and the right size bulbs. You need some slim 194s, about 5 or 6 i believe, and 11-12 36mm festoon bulbs.

And for the millionth time it's been covered on here, you dont need to make sure they are "error free" for the interior bulbs, there are no interior bulb checks. The only bulbs which must be error free are the license plate lights and the mirror turn signals if you have them

Sounds like the LEDS have come a long way. I tried them back in 2006/7 and the light level was horrible. Went back to stock.

Maybe I nbeed to try these again.

I just bought the cheapest ones I could find for the type of bulb I needed. Like a poster said above, there's nothing special about LED bulbs now days, the technology is not rocket science, and the newer type SMD bulbs are a light brighter than the earlier generation bulbs. Remember when HID conversion kits first came out, they could cost anywhere from $500-$1000, now you can get a quality made in Japan kit for under $100.

If you have an E53 and want to replace the driver & passenger footwell, glovebox, door courtesy light and license plate bulbs with LED bulbs that are reasonable, good quality and don't require recoding - look no further.

Go to Autozone and order Sylvania 6418LED (Osram in Europe). Wait for their frequent discounts when you buy over $50 or $75 and they'll often ship to home (US addresses) for free. I just redid my 2002 X5 - wonderful results !! I can see inside my glovebox at night.

eBay item number 200763230237. A few guys here in the uk bought from this seller and they are good quality and very bright. It's eBay.co.uk but he ships world wide for free
