Supersprint Exhaust for BMW X5 4.8is or Magnaflow?

Guys,

For a while now I was thinking of redoing the exhaust (back end). I Want to get rid of the stock mufflers and go with either stright pipes all the way to the back - or go with imroved mufflers. Just stright pipe might be too loud and raspy - so I have started to search online for exhaust systems and came across this system -> Supersprint Exhaust for BMW X5 4.8is V8 (e53) - 2005-2006 - 4x90x85mm oval.. Its not cheap.. $2,500 - not including installation/tax so I'm looking at 3 Grand...

Most important question - is this worth it?? and does anyone have any vids or sound clips of how the X5 sounds with the Supersprint Exhaust?? is it worth the $$?? or should I go to a custom exhaust shop and have them play around?? One exhaust shop near me quoted me $1,100 to redo the exhuast with MAGNAFLOW mufflers similar to ones in Dodge Chargers (as seen here: MAGNAFLOW® - Street Series Cat-Back Exhaust System - Dual Split Rear Exit - 2012 Dodge Charger Magnaflow Street Series Exhaust Systems )

What you guys recommend??? Is the supersprint mufflers good? worth it?? or should I try to do the rear end of the exhaust with magnaflow parts? I want this car to sound like a beast and right now I feel the stock mufflers are limiting that... :dunno:

Eisenmann

From personal experience I highly recommend Eisenmann...

All I did was remove the center resonator and replaced with a $70 X pipe. Got all the sound I needed and it sounds GOOD. Best sounding bang for the buck on any Bimmer I've done.

I should include that I've used SuperSprint on my BMW's including my 1975 2002 and my 2000 supercharged 540 with SuperSprint headers. I am pretty picky about the sound in my cars. I even removed the dual exhaust after installing it because I thought the sound was too much like a Chevy truck to my ear. The SuperSprint was just right.

540 headers:

PropellerHead, can you post an audio clip of your X5?

I already removed the resonator and it improved the sound quality. The car sounds very very very good when im revving it in park - but when driving it around - i feel it could do better..

Wolf --I looked into Eisenmann and its approx: $2,500 not including installation or tax so same price as the SuperSprint. (see: BMW E53 X5 4.6iS Eisenmann Performance Exhaust-B5318.00831 ) I guess the 4.6is placement would fit on a 4.8is as I dont see Eisenmann for the 4.8is.. The thing is - are these exhaust worth it?? I mean a MAGNAFLOW system will cost me $1200 versus a Eisenmann/SuperSprint at $3000... Big difference... and I honestly cant see anything of such a big different to cost so much... So is Eisenmann/SuperSprint worth it?????

Were not talking about a X-pipe! I have not mentioned it and there are plenty of topics already on the subject of the xpipe.. Im taking about the mufflers (rear end of system).

Oh. Well, I wrote above that I only *have* the X pipe, so my audio clip would likely sound very similar to the one I posted. Why else would romeokc10 want to hear an audio clip of my X5?

This was a response for someone else (romeokc10) who posted the request. Not for you at all.

I was told the eisenmann race was ridiculously loud and that the cops pull you over all the time for sound decibel violation....a risk I am willing to take if I can find the exhaust at a better price lol

Hey pnoyako85! my man!! haha thats nice work you did there... you can def scare the local cats into submission .. they will leave the neighborhood in fear of being eaten by this car lol :) pnoyako85 I remember you told me you had the resonator deleted x pipe, bigger tubes and that you changed the tips... in your 1st video you have stated "Catless? for some sound..." .. Did you had the cats removed as well?? I see the picture you have in the vid but what about those demnn sensors?

Hey thanks man,....
1st exhaust mod....
X-pipe stock exhaust,,, sounds nice but no rumble...
2nd Xpipe straight to tips... More meaner sound
3rd.... No cats ,X pipe straight pipe,.. Sounds alot better but when coasting you hear a machine gun sound. Bad Sound..

Now just back to 2nd option,,,

thank you for your reply pnoyako85 ... I really appreciate the info.. you have a nice setup thats for sure... enjoy it :)

you just gave me a good idea too - instead of spending $3k right now on the Eisenmann im going to do 1 more thing and im going to run straight pipes from my H-pipe all the way to the back quad exhaust tips... I will remove the stock mufflers and put straight pipe.... I feel that is whats restricting air flow is those demnn stock mufflers.. im keeping cats on for the sensors and doing all straight pipe after cats all the way to tips... I'll post the vid after the jump :) i'll see how it comes out... I will have your same mod #2 setup except it will be H-pipe instead of X-pipe.. I'll see how it comes out :) its prolly $200 worth of work.. I'll post a vid soon.. If it does not achieve the sound I want (loud and mean) worse comes to worse I'll get the Eisenmann race version for Christmas next month and leave it at that.. :)

I saw this Supersprint exhaust on ebay if it helps. I do not believe it is for the 4.8. Doesnt seem too bad of a deal especially for someone who is looking for one.

The website I got my Eisenhaus Race from does not show it available for E53 anymore :(

http://www.eisenhaus.com/main.php it redirects you to gthaus.com.

NO! It is not too loud and does not attract attention unless you want it to sound that way. You can easily cruise w/o annoying cops, neighbors, etc. But, when you want to get that V8 rumble it is right there by your right foot. Or switch to Sport mode and let the rpms rise a bit.

I get a lot of compliments like - that's the way a V8 is supposed to sound. It also gives a real good growl when you start it up. IMO the perfect balance.

Good luck with your exhaust. Hope this helps!!!!:thumbup:

X-pipe instead of the resonator sounds great, I've heard it in person. I feel it's a bit pointless to spend a lot as the V8's naturally sound pretty good in all setups.

I would go with the Supersprint or Magnaflow system if it were my money. Both of the popular German kits come with cheap looking single wall exhaust tips, for the money they want that's inexcusable.

Guys one more question

I am looking at the super-sprint exhaust.. Planning to buy it for christmas.. I just noticed that everywhere people are selling/buying the 3.0L/4.4L/4.6L one.. and even mounting on the 4.8is.. I noticed Super-Sprint has 2 systems.. one specific just for the 4.8is..

See below

1.) Supersprint BMW E53 X5 4.8is Sports Muffler 90x85mm Oval Tips : Bimmerzone.com ---- SPECIFICALLY FOR 4.8is (OVAL TIPS)

2.) Supersprint BMW E53 X5 4.8is Sports Muffler 4x90mm Round Tips : Bimmerzone.com --- SPECIFICLY FOR THE 4.8is (ROUND TIPS)

3.) Supersprint BMW E53 X5 3.0/4.4/4.6 Sports Muffler 4x90mm Round Tips : Bimmerzone.com -- FOR 3.0/4.4/4.6

I see the 4.8is exhaust system seems looks like it has fatter (bigger) pipes .. my question is - can i install the 3.0L/4.4L/4.6L system on the 4.8is?? or do I have to get the 4.8is system??? will the 3.0/4.4/4.6L system with rounds tips work perfectly on the 4.8is? anyone have any experience with these two different exhaust systems models ?? and what is difference between 3.0L/4.4/4.6L and the one made specificlly for 4.8L?? I cant seem to be able to find out any info on pipe width on these two different systems..

no not at all....alot of us have 2.25 on pipping as i bliv..but if that..maybe "some" cars 4.8is will have 2.50" which is still ok to install your MOD......you only see 3" on cars over 400hp ....you should be ok...

pnoyako85 so you think the 4.6is system should be fine on the 4.8is right??

.. Im thinking if the pipe is a bit smaller gasses would flow faster & might actually make for a better sound?? What you think??

If you look at: BMW E53 X5 Exhaust | Let the Thunder Roll From Your E53 Exhaust

Seems there are 3 different systems I can go with..

1.) SuperSprint
2.) Eisenmann SPORT
3.) Eisenmann RACE

out of the three which would you guys recommend?? someone was praising the Eisenmann RACE as one of the best exhaust systems for the 4.8is.. Can anyone confirm???

I can get the supersprint for the 4.8is at $1700 while the Eisenmann RACE is $2400.....

What you guys recommend & think is best to install??

For the Eisenmann there are stats - SEE BELOW - no stats avaliable for SuperSprint.. Which system would you guys consider superior & far better sounding??? Eisenmann or SuperSprint??

Like i mentioned before someone posted a supersprint system on ebay dirt cheap but its for 4.6is not 4.8is.... I looked up info and the 4.8is supersprint system has bigger pipes compared to ther 4.6is... I dont want to restrict air flow any way so I'm stuck between either buying the freken super-sprint for the 4.6is and mounting it on a 4.8is or spending some more $$ and going with the Eisenmann Race...

pnoyako85 i'll private msg you by end of week re: dec 2nd. I will def try to make it brother...
