HELP!! My driver side door won't open

So I let my mom drive the X and she has to break it. As she was driving away she calls me to tell me that all the interior lights are on...so I tell her that a door must be open. She then realizes that the driver side door will not stay closed. I go out there to see if the latch got stuck in the locked position, moved it around and finally the door closed....but it will not open. Seems like the handles aren't connected....the door locks and unlocks normally..but when locked it won't unlock when the handle is pulled on the inside and won't open fron in or out. Did ne one every have something like this happen....and am I right to believe it probably is not covered under cpo. thanks

I agree mine does the same thing on the passenger side when it is real cold.

Well guys I guess you were right...the sun shined on the door and when I was about to show my friend how the door wouldn't open..I pulled the handle and it opened. I was already looking for ways to remove the door panel with the door closed...thank god...and thanks guys

 All's well that ends well. Now go apologize to your mom for falsely accusing her of causing this ;)

This seems to be a common problem (yes, it's happened to me 3x) - Would replacing the window seals (to keep water out of the door) work? - Any idea of the cost?

It's not the window seals -- its the cable inside the door. Water drips down it and somehow freezes the latching mechanism. There is a FIX out for 00-02 X5s to fix this, but it still doesn't cure the problem completely. Try to get all the snow/ice off your X after a storm, and do not wash the car when very cold weather approaches. I know that sounds stupid but its true :(

You can wash the X and put it in the garage, that should be fine....but if it gets below 20, I would not push my luck.
