swap the lights left to right right to left,
remove the torx screws and check for 2 12v+ and if they are there then your light holder is corroded, I changed mine and left the LED bulbs out and I have had no problems |

right lic plate light also is fed to the trailer harness - so, if you "messed" with the trailer harness you may have had tampered with the right light... Do you have access to WDS wiring diagrams?

a friend of mine who owns a body shop did the Hamann install and all the body work, removed the hitch and tied up the wiring so my thought is the same as yours in that it may be related, even though it did work fine for 3 months after the install was completed. Biggest issue is how to diagnose this problem? Gurjit i know you said yours was water/corrosion related….. did you leave the LED plate lights out? If so how come if the issue was resolved? Just curious if you feel the LEDs would present an issue |
wait a sec, Riggi - you got an E70? it is in your avatar, right?
i do not know how the lic plate is wired for the E70 - i thought you have an E53... the WDS requires Java plug in and also SVG Adobe reader plug in for the scalable diagrams - i can't install anything on my work computers, so i don't have access to WDS but you might be able to read it... There is a chance that the principle was carried over from E53 to E70 but I am not sure... |
