Style 87's Wheels
I have a set that is pretty much perfect refinish OEM Style 87's. I have to get them re-cleared to make them just right. The clear wasn't great originally but they will be once done. No previous repairs or bends.
What do a set of these go for to resale? I have been asked about them but I do not know going price. No tires as I can reuse them on my E70 I want to be fair to the buyer. Thanks for your input. |
Thats A good Question man.........

I inquired about those on the xbimmers forum. But now I am confused again, are you looking to sell or buy? You say you are looking for a price, but at the end you say you want to be a fair buyer.
But I am interested. There was a member here that bought just the rims for $700 at a scrap yard. LKQ out in the BX is selling reconditioned ones for $300/ea. Just for the rims. So depending on your condition, anywhere from $700 - $1200. Can you get us a picture of the wheels? To give you an idea, I local guy had his for sale. I missed them by a day. I said fair to the buyer. You being the buyer.
|
That's $1000 for curbed and scratched rims. Front tires means nothing to me. I am trying to be fair to an open market as well as you. I might just leave them on the SUV and sell it that way as well. I have the OEM 19's I was going to put back on.
I said fair to buyer not fair to seller. I saw a new set asking for $2700 on eBay. Mine are not new in box but are straight with no bends and no repairs, no scratches and no curbing. That's why I haven't determined pricing. You don't see too many sets for sale to gauge market price. |
Gotcha read it wrong.

As for the new set for $2700, that guy has been sitting on that set for over a year. I understand you want to be fair to an open market and while yes, they are rare, they are also readily available through LKQ. As I said, reconditioned are $300/ea. Your's sound like you had them reconditioned, but the clear is starting to fail. So you are going to have them resprayed... hence why your range is anywhere from $700(Going to a junk yard) or $1200 getting reconditioned wheels. So you can use those numbers as your base. |

Demand will set the final price. BTW ... 87s are always in demand. |
To ahead and ask $2700 until you are blue in the face.
Realistic market value closer to $1200 IMO. |
Reclear....means something was off with the topcoar in the 1st place.
For any potential buyers, if you plan to get any reconditioned ones repowdercoated, DONT forget, once it's properly stripped, powder only sticks on metal. So if bondo, etc was used to deal with a gash or a rash, well you get the point. Keep that in mind as well. |
