Nav Update Discs?
How much do they normally cost from the dealer?
|
Dealers generally don't stock them, you have to order them directly at http://navteq.com

My updated disc was about $165.

Hi ! Is there any chance to copy your disc via dvd copy rewritable on the deck top PC ! And check.. if it will work also...with your car x-5 navsystem ??
I am shur if you will make a present for all of us here who needs programm we will pay an amortization fee for fun+ shere and it will balance ur envestment ? bst reg johnni |
Sounds a bit dodgy to me. If everybody did this, then the mapping companies would simply increase costs to people like me who buy original disks. If you can afford an X5, I`m sure you can afford a nav disk to get you around.

Worse than dodgy. :captainob It is theft :chair:.
|
Right! I believe it's copyright laws. If it's the same fine as the FBI warning I am forced to watch every time I load a DVD that would be $250,000 fine and up to 5 years in jail.

It is possible to make a backup of the navigation disc using a computer. I did.
You know what would be cool? Automatically updating navigation systems. Just throw in a cheap 40gig harddrive in a car (you could throw in four or five of them to be redundant) and have it download everytime you went in for server. Put wi-fi in the car and then you could download from other BMW's as well.. :D |
Hi Ricky, Unless you have an agreement with the providers of the navigation software, its stealing. Truth is, they are not building new roads so quickly that a semi-annual update is not sufficient.
