??? How so? They all seem fine with it when the "handicapped" word is on a sign in front of a blue striped parking spot. Here in the USA most don't even have a visible handicap...... other then an overeating disorder. Hope that's not the same situation in the UK.

I remember attending public meetings were the "Disable Community" told us that they didn't want any special treatment but they wanted to be treated just like everyone else, so the para transit program that we were going to implement for them was something they didn't want. They rather have every bus and train be accessible to them, rather then a special service that will take them from point a to point b without any transfer and basically door to door service and at the same price as the regular bus ride.

But now I see they want the special "Disable Parking" and in my city they are able to park on any public streets that has parking and not have to feed the meters. In some areas that can be close to $10.00 a hour and they park there the entire day for FREE. Oh, the City has to paid the company that have the contract for all the parking meters if a disable driver with a valid disable permit is using that parking space, which means all the people that lives here have to shoulder some of that cost.

With the price of gas and the cost of parking I have started riding my bike more often then drive the X or my other cars.

It's all good I do not even really consider my self disabled as I acquired it rather then was born with it.

so I just remember ok I can't do this any more or If I want to do it I have to do it this way rather then how I would have done it before.

Yeah over here in uk we have blue badge for disabled people I'm hoping I get mine I meet all the requirements for it but with our current dictatorship who knows if ill get it

dictatorship!!! lol... i remember, going to the PennDOT, to get a renewed placard for my grandmother, and the lady there asked for a new doctor certification of the disability... I asked if she thinks that my grandma has grown a new set of legs since the last medical check-up... the lady was apologetic but she could not attach the "old" medical certification to the new request - as the law did not allow her to do so...

I was pissed - there are hundreds of disabilities, and some of them are permanent, the law should understand and reflect those... if you have a legitimate need for hand controls in your vehicle, you definitely have legitimate need for the placard or plate designation... but, we have rather often than not, substituted common sense with law, and a lot of incompetent people are hiding behind the instruction, directive or other piece of paper, to cover up their incompetence...
