in one of the threads here we have determined that the rear seat heaters were indeed prewired on one of the member's car (unclebuck)... i haven't heard from UncleBuck in a long time, i suppose everything is fine with his car, so he is just enjoying the ride... somewhere, we also confirmed the PDC wiring - the front was part of the main harness and the rear harness was a part of the retrofit kit that would plug into the main harness...
i still seriously doubt the Nav loom is present on the Level 2, the item seems to be too complicated to present on the simpler main harness... anyways, that was a reason that i asked the folks to chime in... |
Yes, good call. I too am interested for anyone who can offer a little more clarity into these harnesses.

Is there anything I can look for to help confirm this? I have an 03 4.4 built 12/02. I have what looks like everything but PDC and Nav. When did they put TPMS on these trucks? I have been digging around back and have seen a few harness plugs. I wouldnt mind putting in PDC and if Nav is available....atleast I could have an OEM monitor right?

The PDC is a different story - try to fish around the battery compartment, to see if you have a few lonely plugs - the PDC module takes 3 plugs... you might also find there a Trailer plug too... If you have the PDC prewired, that is just the beginning - youstill will need to get the sonic sensors, the PDC brain, the different front A169 module with the PDC module (might as well get the one that has ALL buttons), the relay, the buzz speaker for back and one for the front... i think, there is complete retrofit kit that is sold that includes those... but, lets see if you got the PDC plugs first... |
Im pretty versed in the factory Nav systems after going through it with my E39, its long and complicated so I just gutted and installed all aftermarket, but with the X I want to keep the stock appearance. I am installing a Dice and Sirius this next week and I was just getting ready to go out and start pulling all the stuff out the back end to install the module and sirus tuner, plus I have some AC LC7's i want to try to bury in the back to keep hidden as well. As far as the actual Nav harness, what would it look like in the dash? I honestly have never seen the harness that goes to the monitor so what would I be looking for?
I will pull off those panels you suggested, It would be nice if it was wired for trailer, however I assume this just means lights correct? Not Brake control wired? I ordered an OEM hitch through a buddy of mine who works for a wrecking yard but its only the hitch, what else is required? As far as the PCD, I would assume there should be some wiring behind the bumper cover for the sensors? or do the sensors have wires that lead into the body to the control module? What about TPMS? was there such a thing on these trucks back in O3? I know my Ex's 04 4.8 had them. Let me know Dave |
Ok, took off the panels and took pics of what I found. Let me know if more panels need to come off..
http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f1...ps2a10db6f.jpg This is some sort of jumper, Drivers side in the pocket where the Changer, Nav brain, etc is supposed to go. http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f1...ps8c09bf9d.jpg I assume these go to the amp sitting right next to it, didnt trace. there is a black 4 pin blug with 3 wires next to the white plug. http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f1...psa0fa936b.jpg These are what I assume are the CD Changer wires and where the Dice will hook up. http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f1...psef557c5e.jpg Can someone enlighten me on these? Could this be where the Tuner for the Nav system is supposed to go? I assume the jumper is for the antenna lead which goes up front to the CD or would be deleted if the tuner was sitting in this location... whats the multi pin plu and small 3 pin plug. Also, what is the blue coax connection for? Could that be GPS antenna or would it be Sat radio antenna? Could all this be related to Phone as well? I kinda hope its for nav. |

Is this trailer plug? http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f1...ps29430490.jpg These were under the black cover rearward of the battery. I assume this might be the PDC? Perhaps Sirius? http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f1...ps685d7072.jpg This plug was next to the three smaller plugs. Thats all I am seeing for now, let me know if I can pull more panels off, they will all have to come off to install the stereo equip. I plan on installing. |
the three plugs next to battery - PDC
the plug next to PDC with round pins - Trailer module brain the plug with round pins attached to back panel is where trailer harness connects from the outside of car (there is hole next to that plug, with grommet) the ones in the left panel - one seems as a voice regognition plug but also can be a nav plug - the blue plug with some kind of plug cover... (need more research) the 54-pin connector and fakra connectors - phone connectors and antennas... |

Ok, what does the "Trailer module brain" do? Im curious about this, I wire up trucks all the time to pull trailers, I have yet to need a "module" for anything, course they have all been domestics. Does this module do brakeing as well? What do we need to do to identify if its for navigation or whatnot on the blue plug? Phone connectors? meaning? Also, whats the second antenna plug for....the phone? They pre run that? No luck with it being Satellite Radio or GPS huh? |
