deanblue9...if you haven't done so already...can you type a step by step description of what you're doing? There were a few statements you made in your posts that weren't clear...it sounded as if you weren't following the the instructions correctly...and since we can't see what you're doing, the only thing we know is what you tell us.
For instance, you can see in the instructions that were previously printed...to pair a cell/smart phone if your X5 was built after 10/04 and has either the Premium Pkg, or BMW ASSIST, there's only 5 STEPS:
Help us help you better by describing in a step by step procedure what you are doing & seeing when you're trying to "pair" your phone and X5...remember to describe to us in a way that we can't see if you're looking for info to appear on your smart phone or your nav monitor...so you MUST tell us which you're looking at or for instructions to appear.
For example, below is what I would write in my own words on how I paired my phone and X5. Since I did NOT have a BMW phone installed in the center armrest...I did NOT have a pair button inside the console...and if you don't either...don't worry about it...follow the instructions below if you have either BMW ASSIST or the premium pkg...and your build date is 10/04-Up:
The procedure is this.
- Turn X5 ON to position 1 or 2 (do NOT start the engine)
- Turn my CELL PHONE on to search for available BLUETOOTH DEVICES.
- When I saw my X5 appear on my cell phone's LIST of BT devices (I saw BMW24133 ...which is BMW & the last 5 digits of my X5's VIN) I then selected BMW24133 which was ON MY PHONE'S list of available devices.
- Got the prompt (ON MY CELL PHONE) to enter the PASS CODE KEY (from the BT module in the back or card that's in the glovebox with the Bluetooth instructions)
- I then entered the code into my CELL PHONE & a message on the X5's nav monitor indicated that data was being exchanged.
- When data was finished being exchanged (based on info in the nav screen) I turned the ignition OFF and waited at least 30 seconds.
After 30 seconds had passed, I turned the ignition back on...and VOILA...my phone and X were paired.
Type out what you have been doing step by step (similar to above)...it will allow us to tell if you need to do something differently. :)
