So as you may know...i have E53 06 X5 thats software chip and look and rides aggressive...and wanting to drop it but did not want to spend more $$$... and
Saw this Color and got my tire thread dept it was BRAND NEW tires on her..thats about 1k saving right there and had to get it and bought her (Emma) friday last week.

Saturday,Detailed her clayed,compound,polish,wax...the whole nine.......and on the spot offered and SOLD took her home that night.

Next day Tints came on......4.8X5 gave me the drop i wanted through GT1
and got a wheel alignment.

-mods?.....for now its stock engine till i get my hands on Active for aggressive riding ,wheels are aftermarket.
and yes lowered through GT1 thta is stock height....can be lowered but with pothols of the East Coast...not ideal...

Yeah if you have wide wheels like pnoy you cant go slammed low in the front as without spacers his was rubbing the first time around :p:

Heres some more pics, i also did roof rack delete on mine and temporarily slammed it even lower again:

http://i829.photobucket.com/albums/z...32/null-78.jpg

http://i829.photobucket.com/albums/z...32/null-77.jpg

This is the first height on pnoys, had to do .5 inch higher to not rub over bumps,

http://i829.photobucket.com/albums/z...32/null-79.jpg

For reference right now im running 27.9ish inch ground to fender lip in front and 28.3 rear, pnoy has 29.5 front 29 3/4 rear.

Good shit Mike! I think you should leave it as is, just do the X-pipe and engine software. Remember your neighbors are hating from above.

P.S:
If you have some money left over, there's a gas station for sale around my way... You're gonna need it with 3 guzzlas!

If you're ever bored again, can you please clay, wax my b*tch for me. She'll appreciate it kindly. :stickpoke

P.P.P.S
Or if you're even bore again, I'd take a 4.6/4.8. You know I wouldn't want you to have to suffer from boredom.

xsx450 04-19-2013 12:17 PM

I know my experience is rare, but when i bought my X it was lowered 1" and i am not sure how it took but it wore completely through the internal bump stops to the point that all large bumps in the road that should be soaked up created a HARSH knocking on either side (metal on metal sound that would send chills down your spine) (and a slap to the face from your girlfriend for not fixing it for 5 months)... When i put it back up to stock it stopped... Just throwing it out there, the struts dont look to be serviceable and they are about $600 a piece for OE...

X5SND 04-19-2013 02:34 PM

Welcome to the "dark" side! --- Congrats man, talk about devotion to the X world!

Start plating your trucks after days of the week; You only need thursday and friday now....and there's no need for a Saturday or Sunday since you'll spend them cleaning Monday to friday! lol

TerminatorX5 04-19-2013 02:40 PM

in some places to reduce the traffic jams, they allow the odd numbered plates on certain roads on certain days, and even on the other days... some rich folks would make sure they had two cars with both type numbers...

a car with a plate MONDAY sure can't be driven on Wednesday!!! and since we are on the spending spree, for a sunday might as well buy a Ferrari, and for saturday - a lambo... hahaha and have the minions clean and wax and polish the cars!!!!

pnoyako85 04-19-2013 08:34 PM

Cisco...-yes on #1 , #2 , and its a 4.8is. Lol.

XsX- she is getting new Arm suspension monday full set,. I want everything new since the girl ill be ready for summer

X5snd - yes thank you for welcoming.. Im really happy man...
And she is gettinf cleaned 2x aday just anal about dust on her. Lol

Term- hahahah. I have to choose a dy i guess...lol

cncmastr 04-19-2013 10:33 PM

Did you lower it?

Bnagy4.8 04-19-2013 10:50 PM

What style are those rims? Size and style? How big are your spacers?

pnoyako85 04-20-2013 12:00 AM

yes its lowered and that is my riding height...
as for the Rims...I have them special ordered about 3years ago on my other x5....they are similar to BBS i think...No Brand Aftermarket....
spacers- 20mm

how wide are the front wheels?

pnoyako85 05-03-2013 11:33 AM

10.5 or 11. Still running 275/40/20 its alot wider than oe

Imy 05-03-2013 11:36 AM

10.5 - 11 wide on the front???? ok must be the photo doesnt make then look that wide. also it must have a deprimental effect on the ride, tracking and wear on the tires to have something as wide as 11 on the front?

pnoyako85 05-03-2013 11:39 AM

Noclue ive been tunning them like this since i bought my green one above^^^^. Maybe its 10.5". But no wear or any effects on tires.

How do you find the DWS's to the other tires you've ran in the same size? You had the dunlops at one point right?

pnoyako85 05-03-2013 02:37 PM

Had dunlops ... Bridgestone.... Both rft.... These DWS is pretty much riding on pillows very grippy n meaty... I like them alot..... 4.8mnstr running on Michelin n he swears by them too.

The rating on the bridgestone n dunlop are under 400 thread. The conti are 560 n u get more miles from them

What does the AFE intake really do? I feel like the OE setup is pretty bad ass, venting all the way from the bottom of the grill, how much cold air can it get?

That open air design I would assume would be a "Hot Air" Intake since its open to the engine heat.

If it WERE to breath/flow better. Assuming the intake manifold could handle it. Wouldn't an appropriate tune be needed for any noticeable gains (or record-able, probably unnoticeable)??

Just curious...

bcredliner 05-03-2013 06:02 PM

The AFE is open on top but box is quite close to the hood and at the front of the engine. During acceleration the flow will be primarily through the intake and cooler. The other aspect of cold air intake is higher flow. The X will adjust fuel flow to match greater flow of air. The result is some gain in HP and torque. I went with Dinan, don't think AFE was available at the time. Their performance gain claim on 4.6 is 13HP and 12lb/ft or torque. FYI--Dinan version does have a closed top. The engine will sound much better as a side benefit.

Does it not make sense that the air coming from the tubing (shit, almost ram air) is colder than the engine in the engine bay? I also do not think the stock box is that terribly restrictive...

Are there any dyno tests to show these results? Sure it sounds cooler to hear the air sucking into the intake... I have never heard of self adjusting tuning.

Although "you learn something new about you x5 everyday" is an understatement to say the least!

bcredliner 05-03-2013 10:31 PM

According to AFE literature the gains with their system is 87% better than oe, up to 10hp and 20lb/ft of torque. I have worked with Dinan on many upgrades. Their numbers are always conservative and based on dyno runs. First thing I did after adding Dinan modes was verify gains. Dyno runs showed a little 10% better than Dinan numbers. A tune is not needed as MAF will sense increased air and add fuel. More aggressive engine mods will require new engine software but not cold air intake. Even if AFE system draws some hot the increased volume is where the gain comes.

pnoyako85 05-04-2013 01:05 PM

NO Dyno yet...but have a video of 3 X5 2x 4.8is 1 E70 4.8i
will upload it later...

No dyno but all 3 of us flooring it
Maybe this is better than dyno...
No numbers but actual video.

while we are waiting for Mike's response, i will speculate that the rotors are just coated - for them to be all the way through black, the material must be black, however, material is metal, steel of certain grade, and steel has "metallic" color and i am not aware of "food color" for metals... Cast iron can be black but when you break it, the break line is still with metallic flakes...

now, if the material was not metal, then it could be of a color - do they make rotors from anything other then metal? like the pads, ceramic compound, perhaps? or some kind of NASA space fiber???:dunno:

^^^^Term is Correct....upon purchasing the Rotors n pads i had the option of either choosing silver or black rotors.....with silver it will NOT look good on the blackedout look...the black is coated all around as you wear the rotors out, what the pads are touching or rubbing against will be the ONLY thing that will be silver and all others will be black coat...here is the site as RickiBobby Requested where i bought my rotors and pads $450 shipped to my door 5days wait period....

Frazer. Finally man!!!...i am excited now!!!!....you know how to get in touch with me brother.:driver::2thumbs::wow::wow:

X5SND 05-19-2013 08:44 AM

I kinda figured that was the case... When I replaced my rotors, they were coated everywhere but the face. Looks great though!!

Ricky Bobby 05-19-2013 09:31 AM

Yeah these new rotors get the coating usually on the whole rotor then the first few scrapes of the pad wears contact surface coating off but it shouldn't really rust as much either right?

I kinda wish the previous owner didnt do new rotors and pads before I bought the car, I'd like to go with the "reduced rust" coated slotted rotors and some nice Hawk Pads, would get my rotors from here adam's rotors | custom brake rotors, made-to-order

pnoyako85 05-19-2013 10:07 PM

Rb..I seen those i was debating that Adams or the aftermarket.....and i think they are just both the same just different style but both do same thing, stop dust..

X5snd....yes..now they look awesome!...

It is actually a Federal Offense to remove any smog equipment on vehicles in 49 states. You can get away with it by replacing, as what Mike is going to do with the Magnaflow, but if you leave it "deleted" you wont pass emission inspection (unless the fool that's doing your inspection doesnt notice it and for some reason the machine triggers accurate hydrocarbon output levels or you slip him $50 for the sticker).

In the old days that used to work but since NJ is now Emissions only for inspection I'm pretty sure they crack down on the emissions part of it because deleting the cat and not having a check engine light is not only step 1 of the job, if you can somehow space out the o2 sensors enough to not throw a check engine light you have to make sure your sensors have passed all readiness tests when the OBD sensor is hooked up.

This is for the guys that say "just reset codes then go through inspection since it takes 50 miles or so for the OBD to throw a check engine light", since although you might not have a check engine light after resetting the lights, you still won't pass readiness checks, which also takes about 3 hot-cold cycles of the key.

In theory, if NJ is truly Emissions only and does not do a visual inspection for the cat, you could pass the emissions test IN THEORY without any catalytic converter at all if you can find the "sweet spot" of o2 sensor spacing. From my VW days, if you only have one cat in place, you should be able to pass readiness tests and not throw a check engine light if you install one of these, and if they do not visually look for a cat

http://store.42draftdesigns.com/O2-S...cer_p_306.html

The spacer works so that the o2 sensor is taken out of the exhaust stream and since it "sniffs" less pollutants on the post cat section, the system is pleased and should pass readiness, without throwing a CEL.

EDIT: I do not condone tampering with Federal Emission equipment, however these are things I've learned in many years of trying to avoid check engine lights from glowing on my VW's. I always run high flow cats but essentially the spacer will work the same way as most high flow cats still will trip a P0420 code for catalyst efficiency since they flow much more than stock. You need to space out the rear o2 sensor a bit even with high flow cats in my experience to avoid CEL and still pass readiness.

In a nutshell... Too much fooking work. I heard that the fines imposed are crazy in Jersey also, up to $10k or 6mo in a 6x9 for both the shop and vehicle owner.

TerminatorX5 05-29-2013 05:42 PM

I know for a fact that if i am taking my car out of the US to a country that does not have UNLEADED fuel and has only LEADED, my agency issues me a letter, authorizing removal of the cats and proper storage of them in my posession. i can do this only so many days before the departure. i must preserve the letter of authorization, and the documents supporting the removal of the cats, and upon return of the car to the US, the car will be released from the customs pending the reinstallation of the cats, and i must present the customs with papers supporting the cat reinstall...

in PA, they do check the presense of the cats, even though just from the outside, and the OBD is connecting to the state computers and i think, some info is being uploaded to the state... not sure about it though but suspect that the state (big brother) keeps a record of the cars' OBD info...

Well, I made my post a bit complicated, but it's actually probably less work than you realize. Since we only have 1 cat, it should be fairly easy using that 90 degree angle o2 sensor spacer I posted above, it helped get rid of my Check engine light using a high flow cat with high flow downpipe on my old VW, and I passed emission inspection no problem with all readiness tests passed. Without that spacer, I had a CEL even though I had a cat in place since the high flow wasn't showing the correct "flow readings" on the rear o2, aka the exhaust gases weren't clean enough since there were less cells on the high flow cat setup. What I'm saying is whether you have a testpipe (no cat) or high flow cat, I'm 95% sure that you will need to do an o2 spacer to bring the readings within ECU spec and not trip a Check Engine Light, and therefore be able to pass inspection. I'm a fan of high flow cats, however it's been noted that the difference between a 100-150 cell high flow cat and full flow test pipe is really only a couple of hp at the top end, its really not worth the extra smell of rotten eggs from missing the cat and the pollution to the environment for me to run a full out test pipe setup.

The only thing that might need tweaking would possibly be how far in the o2 sensor spacer gets threaded in, however I used mine threaded in all the way and the 90 degree angle alone out of the exhaust stream worked just fine.

The only thing that would be a total buzzkill is if they look under your car for presence of a cat, if so all my points are moot. I'm not due until December so I couldn't tell you as I don't remember from last time.

Mike if you run into any problems with SES after installing the high flows just hit me up, hope you don't though! It would bug the shit out of me if I had a check engine light on.

worst was piston rods, or motor....

but i wasn't even thinking about fuel pump.

went to my indy early in the AM i was there 15min early before they open (8am) as my body tremble for the bad news, the owner ask me the symptoms and he said Fuel Pump, ...phewwwww...now for the cost $625.....FOOOOKKK>..

Bro, gotta stop leaving the car running at the gas station while filling up after riding it on E my dude!

Hahahhahaha, all jokes aside, lucky it was just a fuel pump! Might want to do that fuel filter now while you are taking care of maintenance down there! 625 sounds about right for a fuel pump, what did Bimmerclinic charge you for part cost? If it was 200 bucks and a couple hours labor that $625 figure isn't too bad man!

And I hope you raised up the air suspension in off-road height to make it easier getting on the flat-bed lol!

pnoyako85 08-20-2013 09:13 AM

Haha,I never let her get pass half a tank man, you know the rule Rb..always filling her up everyday man due to Business ..

I went actually by Costco, Walmart there on rt 27 right infront of costco, they are open saturdays till 2 and ive put my car there for the Tranny,......
order your part from Autopartswarehouse....$100 and if you can change it yourself its good...its only 1.5hrs of labor......lol...

does the finish product feel as good as new? I changed my passenger side a few months ago but its hard to open. It feels tight so im wondering if its because its not a OEM part.

Don't waste your time/money with aftermarket carriers. More often than not they won't feel the same or have the same action. Had aftermarket ones on the front doors if my X...ended up swapping them for OEM units 6 months later.

Tranny failure is rough. Condolences. When you get it back and the weather warms, looks like the driver's seat could use the leatherique treatment to complement the interior improvements ......

+1. Did you reuse or put the CF wrap over the dark wood? I might be interested in the dark wood trim if avail.

Ricky Bobby 01-11-2014 04:42 PM

I think mike had light wood in his 4.4, wrapped with carbon wrap a couple years ago. Dark wood in his 4.8 and I think he just swapped the already wrapped trims over to his 4.8. Which would mean he might have a dark wood set, Mike feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

Feelin like a change in wood color for your Lemans prop?

Yeah. I had dark/black leather in my 3.0. Well.. actually.. I had the same light wood on my 3.0 10 yrs ago as is on my 4.8.

My mother in law's 3.0 had dark with tan. I wanted the dark. She liked the light. A project ensued and we transplanted them. I really do like the light with her tan. Still looks good.

The dark in my 3.0 endured but aged in the 7 years I drove it. I decided to let it go with the sale. Among other reasons, the light wood in my 4.8 had only 11K miles of wear. It still looks brand new. I must also admit that it looks pretty good with the lighter leather. But I miss my dear old dark wood.

Someone on here was selling their dark/black birch I think it was. That would be pretty cool. Why can't we just be happy with what we have? LOL.

Ricky Bobby 01-11-2014 05:51 PM

I know, my CEO says she REALLY likes the light wood on my sport package interior with black leather, some days I agree, and other days, I just want Titan trims to be a complete 2-tone "sport interior". Guys like us are never happy LOL

If I had a solid buyer for my light wood trims I would probably not hesitate to swap it out and put Titan trims in the interior of mine, but no one solid is "in the market" for the light wood, and I would not want a set of perfectly fine, uncracked trims sitting in a box in my basement, unused.

After getting Shafted with a Xmas Present Tranny burnt on 24th of dec. Finally 1 Month Later with New Tranny the Ninja is Out.. And she came home today 1/20/14) with a nice Spanking Tranny, and a little sister (3 series hooptie), for daily while the ninja Only Comes out to play, the 3series will be my beater from now on, as we set Goals in the future,

so I did the Minor Maintenace so far

-oil change
-air filters
-spark plugs
-Cleaned The Engine Bay
-Tints
-Windshield Washer Motor

next mod will be Control Arms,Brakes (drilled n slotted) and Thats It....for now

It does Feel Good not to spend $300 a week 12mpg on gas using my Ninja for Client Services and using the E46 20-30mpg now for DD is Night n Day ....since 2 weeks ago i put on 1900miles on her already....

and once i drive my X i feel like a Complete Different Person from Driving Hooptie all week to driving the X for weekend. It Feels Good, pulls strong now

I was gng to Get an X5M but if i did i would have been using that As DD which is not economical for my line of work, so I think I'll wait one more year till the NEW X5m comes out and the old ones drop in prices then ill pull the Trigger.

They will all last 300K, 400K or even 500K miles if you throw enough of your hard earned cash at them, therein lies the problem...lol!

Hence called a Beater so I don't care if it last a year as long as i keep my X less driven....:thumbup::thumb up:

within 10 months of driving the Beater id get my money back from just Saving Gas wise ..so the Goal would be 10months Boom!.. i just save 40k miles on the X by Not driving it as daily......

The Ninja will Only come out if it Needs to Be Driven, ElectricSav knows how the My X5 Handles on Twist Roads, not an average X5, lol..and will preserve the tranny as much now....

e30cabrio 02-03-2014 10:26 AM

What year is the 3?

tmv 02-03-2014 10:30 AM

Nice to have the Ninja back.
Recommended for your DD: DISA valve upgrade with GAS kit, Vanos seals with Beisan seals.

RB & tMV said the same thing,
when it breaks ill replace it, key is not to spend as much for this DD when its still fine. Lol

You perform the GAS upgrade kit when the DISA is still in working condition.
Vanos seals will never break. They degrade and you lose performance gradually.

Ricky Bobby 02-03-2014 09:11 PM

What tmv said, 80 bucks preventatively for the DISA, before it breaks.

I told him to also do CCV and intake elbow preventatively as I don't know if they are same problem areas as M54.

I haven't done vanos seals on mine but when my VCG gets done I surely will do them too.

Crossing my fingers..

RB,TMV saw the DISA upgrade...should i just get whole unit?...saw it on Ebay $100

Ricky Bobby 02-04-2014 08:09 PM

You can buy the rebuild kit from GAS direct for 85 bucks which strengthens the faulty points of the DISA. No need to buy a whole new one on eBay, with the rebuild kit installed your DISA will be stronger than a new one

Excellent on the exhaust modding. I too have a magnaflow x-pipe centre section and custom magnaflow rear boxes too. The sound is truly epic on the 4.8.

Active Autowerks Tune

dnt mind the zip ties the strut bar was meant for a 2000-2003 model as the whole was supposed to be lined wight their windshield washer..so i had to lift the washer tank to fit into the hole..lol:wow:

RajB 03-26-2014 03:40 AM

Wait so are the zip ties permanent Mike? Or is that just temporary? It would annoy the hell out of me to have the washer tank rigged like that.

I know I'm just nitpicking but can you go and get one of those $50 angel eye bulb sets on ebay to get rid of the yellow? LOL

Hahaha yeah qhen it gets warm getting a better clamp and get cleaner look to it. As for those Yellow bulb it matches the 55w hid fogs i have good for the snow times. But now ordered a Canbus 55w again hid to match my headlight. I just should have use my old ones but screw it new ones this summer times

Or msybe ill keep yellow. Lol

sockethead 03-27-2014 09:32 AM

Damn your X5 is awesome... I bet it sounds sick with that exhaust. The sound of the 4.8 was one of my favorite things about our X. I wish ours was more reliable.... we're still going through withdraw but the kids come first now.. we're down to 3 Bimmers lol.

Shoot me a PM if you need anything or have questions about the e46. Between my wife and I, we've had 3 of them. My black ZHP is pretty heavily modded. Dinan, LSD, short shifter, suspension, etc. etc. I have lots of spare parts laying around. I.E., I think I still have the stock ZHP springs... will lower a non sports package car about 3/4 inch or so...

330i ZHP 03-27-2014 12:30 PM

cool X5

LOVE THAT Moupe

pnoyako85 03-27-2014 07:14 PM

Ahhh thanks guys!!!!! I love this e46. Justdid my rotors and will post pics later on. Cleaned up the rims too bit.....
Getting my X5 back tmrow and Saturday doing Motor Mounts Hopefully thats it and maybe next week will do flex disc(2) center support bearing, tranny mount. Jst for preventative....
And maybe next month will have RB do my subframe bushings

Ricky Bobby 03-27-2014 07:43 PM

Just give me a heads up bro so I can get the tool rented out for the job lookin forward to seeing pics of the flex discs (I.e. How bad are they) and how she drives with the new rear susp

pnoyako85 03-27-2014 09:29 PM

Texted it to you.... Reply here how they look

Ricky Bobby 03-28-2014 10:23 AM

The guibos look pretty visibly dry and cracked Mike, if you are doing the center carrier bearing I'd do both the guibos too.

Cheapest I've found is here:

BMW X5 Driveshaft Parts | FCP Euro

Either way its about $260 for all 3 parts, and any hardware to reattach it, but since those guibos take a lot of the vibration out of driving it really should smoothen it out.

pnoyako85 03-28-2014 10:48 AM

Motors mounts this weekend

Then RB-
4 parts im doin

2 flex discs
Tranny mount
Center support bearing

Ricky Bobby 03-28-2014 10:53 AM

If you haven't drained and filled the diffs I'd do it too, you need 3 quarts of 75w-90 gear oil, I think 1.2 in the front and 1.8 in the rear?
