isolate power source to the aftermarket unit... try to run the unit from it's own 12V supply (just bench test) to see if the whine is generated in the power supply wiring, or in the audio wiring... this way you will cut in half the troubleshooting and concentrate your efforts on the offending wiring...

Where would you recommend tapping into 12V up front?

this is for troubleshooting purposes only...

not using the car power - use a separate, independent power, like a stand alone 12 V battery, or a 12V AC-to-DC converter. the point is, to power the unit using the power source that is not connected to the alternator and see if the whine is still there... then, it means that the whine is induced in audio cables... if the whine is gone, then you power lines need to be "cleaned" up...

Last night my buddy and I tried to isolate the alt whine from every angle and pretty much narrowed it down to speaker wires so the next step will be running isolators in the speaker wires and hopefully that will finish the job. Because I'm pretty much took everything factory out of the back corner of the trunk, I managed to clean up a lot of that wiring and hide it under the plastic covers in the trunk which might have helped a little.

I know this thread is very old, but I'm hoping you're still lurking around. What did you have to "modify" on the framework? I just tried to install the latest Eonon last night, and it doesn't fit in the dash right at all. I saw several posts where people cut the framework to get it to fit..same with a Dynavin from what I've been able to tell. Wondered if that's what you did.

Thanks.

This should show you what needs to be cut... from Jeff's site.

Nice, thank you. Unfortunately, I've cut too much out. Where does one purchase the metal parts noted in that PDF? Does that come with the Dynavin?

I don't know... sorry. I know it did not come with the Avin I installed...
