Just blew out a speaker...

So... I guess after 120k miles, and regular stereo use, one of my speakers finally blew.

So here comes my question... What would you do? Replace the one speaker? Go with the BSW upgrade? (Which is a bit expensive)...

Does anyone have an extra front door speaker laying around? I think it's a midrange? Please let me know, this is going to drive me NUTS!

I upgraded to BSW speakers, amp and subwoofer, IMO well worth the expense. All plug and play. Has been installed for several years, no problems other than I am deaf. Sorry, I trashed the BMW speakers.

Next to squeaks and raddles, a blown speaker is next up as impossible to live with! Can you do the BSW upgrade in stages? Say front doors first, then the dash and rears ad a later date? It would save you from shelling out for the whole get up at once...whether or not it's more expensive that way though I couldn't tell ya!

Give them a call if you want to upgrade in stages. They were very helpful when I did the install.

Thanks for the tips guys. The BSW system Is just so tempting, especially bc of how horrible these speakers are.

I found two used speakers on eBay, from a 4.8is, used for two years. For 20 shipped, it's a quick replacement

If that car had DSP, and mine does not, will those speakers still work in my car?

I replaced the OEM speakers from my e39 with these here. You need to take off the plastic encasement of the tweeters for them to fit. Everything else is plug and play. I don't know how the BSW speakers sound, but the Polk Audio are much better than the OEM ones, and much cheaper than the BSW. I know some other people replaced them with Boston Acoustic, but these are not produced anymore.

I just threw mine away, though one was broken.

Make sure to look at the BSW instructions on how to replace the speaker itself unless you get the speaker and baffle as one out of a salvage yard.
