www.theretrofitsource.com is where I would start looking. New BMW's still use 4300k bulbs, however the optics of the projector may be different which may make your eyes perceive them differently.. Regardless, I would use a Philips or if you have the money, get the Osram CBI bulbs.

Depending on how your eyes perceive the cooler white of the CBI, you may want to also consider the Osram SVS.

What do you mean by a cooler white?

Stock color temp is 4300k, as you can see it is slightly closer to yellow. 5000k is slightly higher than daylight sun, and shifting slowly to the blue side of the kelvin scale. Warmer color temperatures would be softer and in the tinge of yellow side, whereas cooler temperatures tend to be more crisp and bluish hue.

A halogen bulb in a household lamp is approx. 2800k for example.

This thread: HERE has some good comparo pics. It really highlights the difference between the 2 bulbs. Despite "appearing" like A halogen in the comparison pics, light output by the SVS is more or less the same color as the OEM Phillips bulb, just brighter.

Thanks, helps a lot!

For what it's worth, in my experience with the morimoto 5000k first, then the osram CBI's (until I dropped one and it exploded while tweaking my projectors), and finally back to the Phillips 85122's, the 4300k is MUCH easier on the eyes at night. Even if you start with a bulb that's 4300k, it will eventually colorshift to 5000k and beyond..,.but you will have the most useable light for longer without the added strain on the ol' viewing orbs.

I finally have all I need to begin upgrading my headlights and installing angel eyes.

I have another question. What is the best DIY for angel eyes install. I have reviewed those in the DIY section. Not saying they are poor but since so many others have gone through this project I would like the latest and greatest procedure for wiring and install. I think I want them to be the only illumination when I start the engine without switching anything. Currently I leave my light switch on auto--is that a better way to have them work? If I don't connect them to the light switch does that mean that I will have to stop leaving my switch on auto to have them be the only daytime illumination?

BC, you have headlights that are able to be baked open? If so, awesome.

I baked headlights for a member on here for 250 for 20 mins, opened up easily!

I have no clue about wiring them up with the headlight switch on auto, but I know that most of the new angel eye kits come with a relay harness which has one "trigger input" which gets connected to +12v power, I would just check with a multimeter for a wire that has +12v with ignition on, and boom you should have the angel eyes on whenever the engine is running (regardless if the switch is on auto or not)

For mounting, I highly suggest to take those waffle glass lenses out (to update the look), and you have to be a bit creative with the eyes, but its not bad. There is a small notch usually on the bottom which you shave off a little bit of the black plastic to make the notch on the rings "sit" in the hole and fit flush on the black plastic shroud.

Then I would get a thumb tack and some small silver aluminum wire and just follow instructions similar to these , probably one on each side nearer to the top (its basically invisible)
