The 3M kit I used came with a drill attachment and sanding/buffing discs for the drill. Use the drill on a low speed setting and you won't have any issues. Mild pressure, low setting. Takes about 10-15 minutes to get each light looking brand new.

Harbor freight has the 3M kit for around 16 bucks, includes the drill attachment, various grade sanding discs, a buffing foam pad and cream polish.

Here's another set I did a couple of weeks ago. About an hour for both lights (passenger side doesn't look as nice as the drivers side as there is dirt on the chrome finish inside the light assembly).

Ditto on 3M. One kit did 2 cars for me, with more than enough left to do my X, if the dealer ever gets it ready :P

I'm sure that I'm over thinking this, but which 3M kit is the recommended one?

I've been to the 3M website and it just made me more confused. Restoration vs. Renewal? with or without protectant. Use the drill kit or the hand sanding kit?

If I'm taking the time to sit there and work on my headlights, I want to make sure that I use the right products.

What do you guys recommend?

I believe i used the drill operated renewal. I will double check.

I used the renewal kit, with dazzling results. Going to use the toothpaste method tomorrow, will post pics.

So... My headlights now look as bad as, or worse than, the original post!

I am gonna try this, but I am wondering how those who did them in 2013 are holding up with regards to the urethane coating... Has it yellowed out any?

Ok. I did it... The 3M kit worked really well, but I can't get the 60/40 mixture put on correctly! It always leaves streaks. :-(

Anyone have any ideas on tackling hazing on the inside of the lenses? My driver's side has hazing on the inside of the lens. Passenger side is fine. I used the 3m kit with the protectant/sealant (used a drill w/sanding disks followed by polishing cream with foam pad). Other than the hazing on the driver's side lens, everything looks good.

Maquires polish you can't beat it. Used for decades to remove haze from motorcycle visor and windscreen. You can usually just polish by hand but orbital sander is best.
