Do you not have the fuse index & diagram adhered to the drop down cover in your glove box...that looks like the image below?

BMW made it really easy for you...again the fuses are listed alphabetical with their fuse number(s) next to them. Then BMW drew an illustration of the fuse box with the fuse's numbered location within the boxes.

If you look at the illustration with all the numbers inside the little boxes and there's a "-"...it means that space is supposed to be empty. Not every space in the fuse box is filled...due to multiple reasons like not having the option for that fuse.

Again dont you have this fuse index below somewhere in your glovebox?

check fuse #13 for 5A... that fuse is specific to the siren...

Antitheft alarm system

The antitheft alarm system (DWA) is controlled by the general module of the central body electronics (ZKE).
The following inputs are monitored:

• Ignition lock (terminal R)
• Door contacts (front and rear)
• Bonnet (hood) contact
• Boot lid (tailgate) contact (boot lid/tailgate up)
• Tilt alarm sensor
• Interior protection

An acoustic and visual alarm (country-specific coding) is triggered.
Function and components

Operation

The antitheft alarm system is activated automatically together with locking/arming of the central locking system (arming = ignition OFF, open and close driver's or front passenger's door, lock vehicle via lock cylinder or radio remote control).
The inputs are monitored after arming and a waiting time of 3 seconds. This waiting time makes it possible to close the door for instance shortly after arming the antitheft alarm system. If, after arming, one or several input signals are not in rest position (e.g. door open) the status LED will flash for 10 seconds. A switch which is not in rest position is not included in the monitoring function.
The tilt alarm sensor and the interior protection are switched off if the antitheft alarm system is armed within 10 seconds after arming it for the first time (key turned once again in door lock or corresponding button on remote control pressed). In this way, the risk of a false alarm is avoided under certain conditions (e.g. car trains or ship transport).
LED indicator
A light emitting diode (LED) which signals the DWA status serves as visual feedback. This LED is located on the rear-view mirror.

The DWA LED flashes at a rate of once every 2 seconds. It blinks at a rate of twice per second.
The status of the input signals can be red out via diagnosis. This enables rapid troubleshooting in the event of an LED flashing after arming.

Additional feedback concerning arming and disarming (country-specific) can be set by way of coding.

Alarm triggering

The alarm is triggered by the general module. A siren serves as the acoustic signal generator.
The siren is activated for 30 seconds in the case of alarm. The alarm is interrupted immediately when the antitheft alarm system (DWA) is disarmed. The siren can be coded to permanent tone or intermittent tone (country-specific).
A visual alarm is triggered for approx. 5 minutes together with the acoustic alarm. The light switch centre switches on the lights via the K-bus. The lights (only hazard warning or additionally low beam or high beam) to be activated as the visual alarm are coded country-specific in the general module.
The input responsible for alarm triggering is stored in the alarm memory in the general module. The alarm memory can be read out in the diagnostic program and deleted with "delete fault code memory".
Siren for Antitheft Alarm System

The electronic control and the battery are integrated in the siren. This ensures it can be activated independent of the vehicle electrical system.
The siren is primed and deactivated via a line STDWA (the same line also activates and deactivates the tilt sensor and interior protection facility). The siren is informed of the alarm triggering status by the general module via the SIREN line. When the siren is armed, an alarm may still be triggered if the siren is disconnected from the vehicle electrical system or the vehicle battery is disconnected.
If the alarm is triggered by tampering with the emergency current siren, the alarm is not stored in the alarm memory as the general module cannot register the alarm.
Boot lid

If the upper tailgate is opened via the remote control with the antitheft system armed, the tailgate contact, interior protection system and the tilt sensor for triggering the alarm are deactivated.
Emergency disarming

It may be possible that the antitheft alarm system (DWA) can no longer be disarmed in the event of the remote control or central locking systems failing. In this case, the emergency disarming procedure must be implemented to disarm the antitheft alarm system (DWA), however, an alarm will now be triggered.
Procedure:

• Unlock driver's door mechanically and open. An alarm is triggered, the DWA LED flashes.
• Close all doors, tailgates and bonnet (hood)
• While the acoustic alarm is still active, switch ignition lock from position "0" to position "1" (terminal R), the DWA LED is illuminated.
• The system is disarmed after a waiting period of 10 minutes has elapsed and the DWA LED goes out.

The emergency disarming procedure is terminated if a door is opened or the setting of the ignition lock is changed during this waiting period.
Repeated emergency disarming can only be restarted after the alarm period has elapsed (5 minutes).
Panic mode (country-specific coding)

A vehicle alarm can be triggered via the remote control by pressing the "boot lid/panic" button on the remote control key for longer than 1 second.
This panic mode triggers an acoustic and visual alarm irrespective of the current DWA status. Panic mode is terminated by disarming or arming the antitheft alarm system (DWA) as well as by unlocking the doors with the key.

Siren for Antitheft Alarm System

The acoustic alarm of the antitheft alarm system (DWA) as well as the acoustic feedback for arming/disarming (coded) are triggered via an alarm.
The siren is designed as an emergency siren so that an acoustic alarm can be triggered independent of the vehicle electrical system.
Function

Arming/disarming

When the antitheft alarm system is armed, the siren is activated by the ZKE general module via the STDWA line and deactivated when the system is disarmed (the same line also activates and deactivates the tilt alarm sensor and interior protection). The siren is informed of the alarm triggering status by the general module via the SIREN line.
When the siren is armed, an alarm may still be triggered if the siren is disconnected from the vehicle electrical system or the vehicle battery is disconnected.
The alarm is triggered for 30 seconds. The alarm is interrupted immediately when the DWA is disarmed.
An alarm triggered by tampering with the emergency current siren is not stored in the alarm counter as the general module cannot register the alarm being triggered.
Internal voltage supply

The siren contains the entire electronics as well as a rechargeable battery necessary for triggering an alarm so that it is independent of the vehicle electrical system. The rechargeable battery is charged via the vehicle battery.
Acoustic feedback

The acoustic feedback provided when arming and disarming the antitheft alarm system are coding variants in the ZKE general module. During acoustic feedback, the siren is operated at reduced volume.
Acoustic feedback takes place as follows:

• Arming DWA Siren is activated once for approx. 100 ms
• Disarming DWA Siren is activated twice for approx. 100 ms

Encoding

A differentiation is made between two basic versions of the siren for USA and EUR operation. The EUR variant can be used for both continuous tone as well as for intermittent tone (depending on the coding of the general module). When an alarm is triggered, the general module informs the siren of the coded mode of operation. This is stored in the siren so that the specified operating mode is retained even if the siren itself is triggered. When the general module is recoded, the mode stored in the siren is also changed the next time the alarm is triggered.

Hey guys, so I swapped out fuse 5 and 13 and still nothing. I was reading what terminatorX5 posted and it mentions something about it can be deleted from the memory, or did I read it wrong?

Trying to figure this thing out is frustrating, so far I have a new siren, replaced fuses, what's next?

you replaced the siren? so, the new siren should have its own battery and in case of disconnect from the car, the siren should go off, right? i wonder if this is the case, if the siren can go off while separated from the car in armed situation...

also, there could be an actual break in electrical line - a chaffed wire, or a short somewhere...

Just clarifying because on my 06...fuse #5 is for the garage door opener. As previously stated...different model years can have a slightly different fuse configuration...so I'm just asking if Fuse #5 is the same for your model year.

For my 06..."theifproofing" is associated with fuses #6 & #13.

If non of the above is working...you may have to breakdown and take it to a dealership or indy that has diagnostic software/hardware that can communicate with BMW's proprietary system. BMW DIS/GT-1 can communicate with the DWA system to see why the alarm siren may not be communicative.

If you purchased a new alarm siren, then it's internal battery should be charged up by now. If you purchased a used one...perhaps the internal battery is dead. :dunno:
