OBD2 to USB diagnostic cable question
Good day all.
I wanted to get suggestions on the OBD2 to USB diagnostic cables for use on 2003 X5 6cyl. I need to retrieve some data from the system to find out why I am having service engine soon light on. I was able to extract some data with a code reader. It listed about a dozen different codes including, Oxygen sensor, a couple of cylinders misfire, speed sensor. What reliable OBD2 to USB diagnostic cable and the diagnostic software would you recommended using? Thank in advance. |
For ease of software installation and program use I use BMW Scanner 1.4. Check ebay fOR sellerS selling the cable and software together.
A free partial working legal copy is available on PA Software website for people to try before buying. BMW Scanner by P.A.Soft - BMW diagnostic software and used parts reprogramming tool |
+1 on the PA Soft 1.4....easy to use.

Unless one is a shop 650.00 is alot to spend no?
|
You can find cables that will work with BMW scanner 1.4 on eBay for a lot less then 650.00 bucks.
|
My cable that works with INPA is seen by the system as a USB to serial device and refuses to accept BMW Scanner's driver so scanner says no cable present.
|
There is an interface that is built into the BMW Scanner cable. You need to get the correct cable. Don't assume that because you have a cable that will work with another program it should work with any program.

Which was the point of my previous post.
|
Got the 1.40 connector from eBay last night. Attached & turned off my airbag light. What else can I do with it?

^Scan the whole car for code. There might be some pending.
