MY DIY - Starter Replacment on E53 4.4L
 

Well, this is my second major DIY project on "Sturm", my 2003 X5 4.4L. As some of you might know, I had a weird sound occurring on start up. It was determined to be a faulty starter (Thank you to all that responded to that thread).

I replaced the starter today and it seemed to do the trick. I am grateful for all the tips I learn from this board. I have learned so much in so little time about the E53.

I thought it would be nice to finally be able to contribute something back. I apologize for not getting as many pictures as I'd hoped. Hopefully this thread will help someone else who might be faced with this issue.

Awesome write up man, definitely well thought out and I think it might apply to more than just the 4.4 as well (or at least the general concept), very helpful and will be useful in the future to many!
