Yes lol, I meant 30 mins conservatively as my OCD was kicking in and on each plug I put anti-seize on the threads and made sure to clean the coilpack connector and the coilpack with electronic cleaner spray and put dielectric grease on all electrical connections lol!

Then I enjoyed a smoke and a beer afterwards, so I guess the work only took about 15 mins :)

Easy on us feds, please.

You'd be surprised how hard the job is. If it were easy and the pay was so great, why couldn't I get a single engineering graduate to take the openings I had a number of years ago. Even the kids with a "C" grade point average were being offered $15k more per year than I was allowed to offer (per Title 5 of the Code of Federal Regulations). No one wanted a federal position until the economy tanked, then we were the overpaid media whipping boys. In the US, there are thousands of federal jobs available for all who think it is an easy life. Just apply.

Please remember that it's the elected officials, not the folks that have to implement their idiotic laws/regulations that are the enemy. Vote the extremists out and vote statesmen in please. John Adams and Thomas Jefferson (not to mention James Madison, a brilliant statesman and the brains behind the US Constitution) will reduce their gravesite rotational vectors if you do.

I endorse your rant fully friend and I'm sure you are a hard working man and part of the solution, unfortunately your "bosses" in congress have not been fulfilling their constitutional duties too well. I still have yet to wonder why we the people can't vote on an amendment for term limits in Congress? Oh that's right, bc the politicians would never give up their current lifetimes in Congress. Without fresh faces to represent the people and the current officials seeing a deadline to the impact they make, I'm afraid Adams, Jefferson, and Madison will keep rolling in their graves!

admranger, my apologies....there was no disrespect directed at the hardworking foot soldiers of the political machine. Trust me when I say, I understand the constraints you guys are often subject to, and although some government positions are cushy...the majority are not. That crack was directed towards the upper echelon and their appointed cronies.

As for working in the thick of it.....no thanks, private sector FTW!

RB, did you use the NGK BKR6EQUP? I'm ready to change mine, and everything I've read suggests these.

Thanks!

Hey Gary, you bet your ass those are the plugs I used! Go get 'er done with them!

I know this is an old thread, but why not the Bosch plugs FGR7DQP. They are a bit cheaper and seem fine.

Riggodeaux 03-19-2014 09:56 AM

Mine is performing smoothly at 86k miles; I plan to do them around 100k absent getting misfires/roughness before then. As others have noted, I had the diffs, transfer case, and manual tranny done around 82k; with lubro moly antifriction added, seems much smoother.

The internet consensus is that if your engine had Bosch to start, stick with Bosch. Everyone else got NGK. I've heard bad luck with the Bosch, so regardless I'm going with NGK. Now as to which plug, it's like oil... Keep in mind the only tangible benefit of the 4 prong plugs is service life. Many people stick oem, others (like me) use iridium. There are single prong Plats available, and I am even running straight v power coppers in my M52 e36.

People will tell you copper is 'best' with short lifespan, followed by iridium and the platinum.

I'm happy with iridiums in my e53 and I don't care about the service life.

No complaints about the NGK's on my M54
