the Hall effect sensors, the diodes inside those sensors, are passive components, "interrogated" by the "active ABS module... when a connector disconnected from the ABS module, you can't have the voltage generated by the ABS module to be passed onto the hall effect sensor, therefore, for this particular test, we only test to see if the diodes are operating as designed...

the result of this test can be that the all 4 sensors give us good readings, then i would see if the sensor housings are dirty or otherwise compromised...

the result could be, that one sensor is not reporting to the ABS... then i would pull a wheel and test the sensor right at the wheel... at this point, the sensor still can be dead (replace the sensor with a good quality one), or, the sensor can be good but the line from the sensor to the module is compromized... in this case, test the line, to verify that the line is bad...

if, after all the tests, it seems that the sensors and the lines are good, thelast thing left is the module itself... then send it off for repairs... while you can drive the car without the module, try to limit your driving, if possible...

Thank you so much. I will test this way tomorrow, and update with progress. I am hoping that it will just be a speed sensor. We will find out tomorrow. I haven't had a speedometer since a bought the car, and I'm looking forward to finally getting this fixed. Previous owner promised he would fix it, but he disappeared.

Good info TX, probably come in handy some day :)

OP: as to your (possible) battery/ alternator seeing you have after market amps + subs you need to seriously look into a capacitor (cap)- a big one one for each amp... If youve ever noticed lights flickering or dimming the amp is trying to draw too much current.. The capacitor stores energy and discharges it to your system when needed.. You will end up frying your alternator trying to compensate.

Thanks for the suggestion. I put in a capacitor and the voltage is holding steady. at 13.7-13.9v.

I just had a similar problem with my 03 4.6is just a few weeks ago. My traction abs and brake light were on most of the gauges did not work except the oil temp which went from 0 to 300 and back to 0 while driving. At first I brought to my indy and replaced both front speed sensor then had a fault with output speed sensor in tranny replaced that then passenger cat was bad so replaced that. At then end I ended up bringing to the dealer and they said they couldnt communicate with my dsc module nor any other module but when the dsc module was unplugged they were able to. The dealer wanted 1400 for the part plus labor. They were nice enough for letting me bring a new part in for 470 and they would install and program. Now everything is great and running good and strong at 209,000 miles :)
