Drive Lock?????

Hey guys. Once I explain this issue to you, I'm hoping there is a logical explanation (yeah I know it's an oxymoron when it comes to the X).

Since I'm not expecting too many more warm days here in Chicago, I decided to put my winter wheels and tires on. Here's exactly what I did. Put the wheel chocks behind the back wheels, loosened the front lug nuts on both wheels. Jacked up the entire front end, took off the lug nuts, took off the wheels and put the other set on, put lug nuts back on, lowered, tightened lug nuts. Put the chocks in front of the front wheels, loosened the lug nuts, jacked up the entire back end, took lug nuts off, replaced wheels, put lug nuts back on, lowered, tightened lug nuts. Sounds easy enough right??

Well, I hopped in to take it around the block and it would move. It went into gear, I could feel it trying to go, but it wouldn't. So silly me, I though maybe I left the chocks up front (I know that's what you were thinking), but I didn't. I looked all under it to make sure nothing was snagged or grabbing or preventing forward movement. Nothing. I put it in reverse, same thing. Transmission engaged, gave gas, felt like it wanted to go, but nothing. I checked the parking brake to make sure that wasn't the issue (because that's sorta what it felt like....leaving the parking brake on).

:dunno:

Any ideas as to what the heck happened?

Thanks

Do the wheels you just installed need shorter lug bolts?

No. The wheels/bolts were on there when I bought my X last year. I actually bought a set of OE wheels. Same lug bolts.

so you loosenned the wheels off with the vehicle on the ground and then jacked it up is that correct?

Yes. When I say loosen, I mean just enough to "crack the seal" so to speak. Not take them all the way out or even half the way out.

What size and offset are the wheels

Have you driven on these wheels? if not are they contacting the calipers?

Not sure of the offset. Yes I've driven on these wheels. They were on there when I bought it. So no they are not contacting the calipers.

Can you have someone give the car a bit of gas while you look/listen for contact?

Something is binding somewhere.

Alternatively, remove the wheels one at at time and see if there is contact evidence?
