Does bending the wire close to the connector had any effect on sound? I think that area is pretty thick an not that flexible. I was looking at that location. That piece actually comes out and a hole is at the side of the ash tray that goes behind the center console. That seems like the most logical place to put it though. Thanks for the pic.

I didn't secure the USB connector as I wanted the cable long enough to be able to keep my iPhone charged when I play music. It's easy to get to and disappears when I close the cover. I connect by bluetooth most of the time but it is there if I need it.

Honestly, I did not want to remove the CD changer. I am trying ti keep this vehicle as stock as possible. Plus I do have CDs and figured I would use it now and then. I know that the mediabridge is great in that you can control the selections through the radio itself....vs...having to take your eyes off the road trying to find songs on the small ipod.

I have a USA Spec and very happy with it, I like having direct control of my phone functions/ipod functions at my hand if needed, so no complaints there. I just wanted to move it somewhere more accessible, as opposed to opening the armrest and "fishing for it" with my hands, I think sliding open the cupholder is better.

If/When I replace my wood trims I'll probably relocate the iPod cable to the cupholders at that time.

I see, checked it out, was not familiar with USA Spec.

I drilled it at the bottom of the ashtray. The hole on the side was for the light and I didn't want to block that. Plus, I didn't want the risk of damaging the connector by bending it 90*

Thanks dkl. you just made my life much easier. I found it easier to drill a hole in my much newer subaru legacy than in this truck lol. But I guess you gotta do what you gotta do.

My initial plan was to install it in the glovebox and use the secret power source below the glovebox for charging and leave it there and never unplug it.

1. The stretch from the driver seat was too much.

2. I wasnt sure if the ipod would stay charging, thus slowing draining the battery

Yes, the CD player can no longer be used so it wouldn't work for you.

i wired mine to the center armrest area, where the CD/cassette holder is (some have deep holder). I have an iLive BT dongle connected to the AUX input, so the android phone connects wirelessly to the AUX... the install is not finished, as I am planning on using a Y-splitter for the AUX... I built my own AUX cable, as I was too cheap to pay $50 for a $5 worth of wires...

you could see some of my crude pictures in my "4.8 to do/done list" thread...

Under the glove box in the passenger footwell. Out of sight, yet reachable
