Did they change the pump suction strainer? It s not possible to clean them properly after a tensioner blow up
|
They did after it got clogged up and I drove it. I have only driven it about 100 miles so far but it appears to be ok. It is still at the transmission shop as they are booked for another few days and they will look at it next week on that part.
Once it is driveable again the shop is going to change the oil again for me and pull the pump to make sure there is not anything left. The oil has been changed 5 times since it got clogged updue to all the issues. It runs very well now and I would expect that since it was driven and then unclogged and the oil pan was pulled that it should be clean now.....I hope. |

'03 4.6is complete engine overhaul
I'm in the process of rebuilding my 4.6is engine. It'll be a complete engine out rebuild - dropping the complete subframe, tranny, transaxle and front suspension. Just started getting the parts list put together. I'll post the spreadsheet over the next week or so.
I'm hanging onto the car AND the original motor / tran - becuz - well - it's an Alpina X5 4.6is triple black - and i can't think of a more fun vehicle to drive during the winter!! Besides - in another 8 yrs - it'll be VINTAGE - and it gives me PLENTY of time to get it ready for the The Vintage 2027 !! https://xoutpost.com/images/smilies/stickpoke.gif https://xoutpost.com/images/smilies/LemansX5/boogie.gif |
