I had this problem twice. After a half mile of driving it would go away.
It went away after a fluid and filter change each time.
I think the darn automatic transmissions just consume more fluid than they should. Serviced mine in December before a trip from NC to OH and it was fine. Still running smooth.

When I first bought mine I had a similar issue. When rolling through a stop, not making a complete stop and then accelerating. The car almost felt like I was neutral dropping it. It would rev up as if it were in neutral, then slam and take off.

I took it to an indy, had them drop the pan, replace the filter and gasket and then flush it out with new fluid. Been flawless ever since.

Same with me. Used to happen once in a while, but not once in the last 3 weeks since I've had the fluid and filter changed, and I've rolled thru many stops just to check.

Well here is the update Just left service a week ago:
Needed a new Alt -a Diode was bad (thank god not water cooled), needed oil separators on the valve covers
front sway bar links
oil change
Tranny fluid change (3rd one in a year - jus because prior owner did not really maintain as he said)
two wiper pumps
and a couple of minor items.
OHm'ed the grounds because there were not tranny faults only dash/electric faults for the failsafe mode
Drove it for a week ran fine, all of a sudden the transfault hits on the highway while, merging, while moving from 2nd to 3rd gear. WTF!!!!!!!!!!
brought it back this time it was a tranny fault, found the fan was not fully lugged in so was hoping it was just a slight overheat. so corrected that and cleared the fault

driving away, get a few miles from the shop this morning - transfault comes. I pull over sit, turn back on, start to drive pulls the fault right away again and pops the check engine light on.

I think it is time for a tranny????
Or does anyone think it might just be the mech-tronics unit
Thoughts on what to do??? Ideas who to get one from???

I am pulling my hair out, and I do not know if it is worth doing, and then if just do mech-tronics and that does not fix it. my very reputable Indy thinks that just do the whole thing. Only have 134,000 on it
