BC!
Sounds like you've done exactly what I want to do, and now I remember where I saw that steering wheel! That's exactly what I want...I seem to remember a thread about this....
DINAN does not provide any of the goodies they used to have only a couple of months ago- cold air intake, strut stuff, mufflers etc.

Glad you made it, brother you're either off your rocker or you have huge gonads to trust your X on a road trip that long...lol! I drove my 2002 4.6is from California to San Antonio, TX back in 2012, I barely made it going and coming back home! My X broke down 5 days after I got there, on the way back home it broke down 3 days after I got home, I couldn't imagine being stuck by the side of the road in New Mexico, Arizona or West Texas, those are some lonely roads. I'll never drive my X on a trip that far again, my X has been parked in my garage since late November with broken timing chain guides, no surprise I guess...lol!

No point in having a donkey if you're not gonna ride it!
I think of it as a really long shake down run.
Now I have a list of things to fix, then I can get them fixed, and start fixing the stuff that broke while I was fixing the other stuff.
Simple logic, really!

You could put the H&R kit which has lowering springs for the front and links for the rear to lower the bags, Bcredliner has on his and looks sweet!

Here are tails I bought from same seller two years ago and still working great!

I'll shoot you a flare shortly. Need to figure out where I'm going to have the work done. Was thinking about having it done here, but think I will go ahead and drive back up to ABR in Houston and have them sort it out. When I get back into N.A. I will drive it around for a bit and see how it shakes out.
List so far:
Lights (I got rid of the DRL's and upgraded the bulbs for them, which are great when the high beams are on, however the HIDs are pretty much meh. Nothing like the Zenons in the 06. Any thoughts on those? Upgrades? Would like to 'ring' them too...

Suspension: Sounds like BC has got it sorted, so will probably go that route, however I would really like to add some upgraded sway bars and a strut tower brace...Not sure how that will work out

Sound system (head unit and speakers!) I rented a Chrysler 300 when the LS broke down, and had the pleasure of listening to a really good sound system...that 'beats' system. Not really into base heavy sound, although I listen to a pretty wide range of music when driving...This had great clarity and just enough bass to keep it thumping in the back ground when needed...

Steering Wheel:Going to go with the steering wheel set-up that BC has, exactly what I want

Quite a trip, esp with the glitches...I would have shot the sumbitch, on the side of the road. :D

Guadalajara: one of my fave places in Mexico; was there a couple dozen times when I was carrying the bag. Jalisco, the Free and Sovereign State of Mexico = home of tequila, but you probably already know that.

If not, hit a roadside stand and ask for direcciones to the good stuff, just down the dirt road. Most of the top shelf stuff, fairly inexpensive, never makes it to NA via distribution, but don't remember your, (CDA) rules for bringing back a couple of blts. Never had a prob going through Houston customs.

Good luck on rest of your trip, and getting that bucket of bolts back to running well. ;)

If you can get past all the visual noise in this photo, does anyone notice anything else of note?
It's funny because it's what I plan to do to the Little Swine.

It's on the roof of a parking garage not parked between the lines, likely to get keyed?

Hood louvers? Color coordinated skid plate? Fender flares? 20+ rims? Roof appears to be a different color? Blacked out fog lights? You're going to be busy for awhile.

Ricky Bobby 02-21-2014 12:41 PM

M3 mirrors? Black roof? Projector fog lights? Depo headlights with angel eyes? Comfort glass windshield lol!

panchosouth 02-21-2014 12:55 PM

Save me Jebus. i never thought about the parking between the lines!
And for all the other stuff....Uhhhhhhh. Man I thought I was being observant!
Mirrors! Want them! Any idea what it takes? Anyone done this?
