Lost AC aircon after engine repair

I had my upper oil pan, timing chain, chain guide, vanos solenoids and thermostat replaced. And now after 2 weeks I pick up the car I dont have AC. Its not blowing hot air (so its not the heater control valve) but its feels like theres no freon thats how warm it feels.

Was there something in the course of the repair that could have caused it to go bad? the mechanic said the only thing that touched the AC system was that the belt was removed to access the front cover.

Im not having a swell time with my X5 :(

Is there any connectors or sensors for the a/c around where the mechanic was working, if he didnt touch the a/c system that is the only explanation

I will find out later when I do a visual of the engine. I wasnt there when the repairs were made unfortunately. I will check if the compressor engages and try to refill it with refrigerant.

I know it could just be plain luck. but what are the chances that I went in for an oil pan gasket replacement and came out with codes for thermostat and vanos solenoids and now busted AC, right?
