Car manufacturers will fit their vehicles with components sourced from potentially several different suppliers throughout the model life of a vehicle.
If it fits, and you are happy with the quality, then nothing else matters :) |
Thanks, but first of all there isn't a Denso for this model/year, and second the labor here in Los Angeles is $1000. :)

Anthony, that's great general advice, and I appreciate it...but I'm trying to source the correct compressor to fit my exact car, not just any arbitrary car. :)
|
So what are you after then? A part number for X brand?
|
Again, I want to know whether anyone can confirm that the Calsonic compressor linked below really is the replacement for 64526917864. The only reason I'm confused is that if my mechanic says the only part available is from the dealer, normally that would be the case.
2004*BMW*X5*A/C Compressor from DiscountAcParts |
The Calsonic one says it is "reman", which means a remanufactured part. Stripped, rebuilt with new parts as needed.
|
Rockauto dot com lists Nissens for $300+ or so.
However, some website lists Calsonic as the OEM mfg for $590: Brand New Genuine AC Compressor Clutch for BMW x5 4 4 4 8L | eBay Never heard of Calsonic until now... |

Yeah, that link is for the rebuilt one. cn90 posted one for a new part, and I think that same company but others have it for around the same price as the ebay link. I meant to post the one for the new part (why buy a rebuilt one to save $50?). But my question is whether anyone else has replaced the compressor with that part. Again, that's all I'm trying to find out: is that the correct part. I do know what it *says*, but I suspect every company uses the same database, and if it's wrong once then it's wrong every time. |
