Need new A/C compressor. Any suggestion.
Been told by my mechanic that i need a new a/c compressor.
Anyone here know of a good aftermarket brand? I can prolly go for a good used one also. Please help. Its getting hot here in Arizona. No way in hell I am paying for a new one for $1500 from the dealership. OEM part number is 64529158039 |
Try using BMW 64529158039 on ebay or in a search engine.

I checked Rockauto parts catalog and found a Nissens compressor below. Do you recommend this? NISSENS Part # 89081 Manufacturer Restriction: DENSO; Compressor ID: 10S17C; Voltage from [V]: 12; Number of grooves: 5; Oil Fill Quantity [ml]: 160; Refrigerant: R 134a; Number of Poles: 1; Inlet Ø [mm]: 18,3; Outlet Ø [mm]: 15,5; Capacity Compressor [cc]: 187; :; Standard: PREFILLED PAG-OIL, O-RINGS INCLUDED http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/images/eu.gif |
An A/C compressor is an A/C compressor. As long as it has a warranty go for it.

I hear ya. There are so many brands it gets confusing. i will do some more research but this is a good start. Appreciate your help. |
I wouldn't worry too much about it, it's not like you're buying a cylinder head or connecting rods. All these remanufactured compressors are made in the same place anyway.

I have the same car as Brandon002, and unfortunately my mechanic informs me it needs a new AC compressor. He also said there doesn't appear to be an alternative to the dealer version (for $1350) - there isn't an aftermarket one, but he's continuing to look in case one becomes available.
I don't doubt anything he says - he's very good and knows these cars inside out - but I'm still trying to search on my own. It looks like this is the right part, and it would explain why he can't find a Denso replacement. Can anyone confirm this, please? 2004*BMW*X5*A/C Compressor from DiscountAcParts 64526917864 is the BMW number. TIA |
In my 1998 528i, the compressor is made by DENSO.
If you can get DENSO, then it is a good brand. - Evac ($30 at local shop) - Replace the compressor, incl. all O-rings - Vacuum + recharge ($70 at local shop) So the cost will be: - DENSO compressor, your labor - Labor from local shop = $100. |
