Double Din Stereo Install?

I'm trying to install a Double Din after market stereo in my 2002 X5 so I can have access to my phone, music, a back up camera and the kid can watch movies in the back seat. Does anyone know if I really have to cut out the factory bezel? I've found a couple of installation tutorials on Youtube and they seem to skip over this part of the process. Thanks for the help....

Before you cut anything.... it's obvious you don't have the answers you need. My only recommendation is to find one installed then contact the owner if possible.

I have the same issue but in a different light: I have factory nav and DSP. Try finding a system or anyone daring enough to try. I waited for the new Pioneer x000NEX Series. Most reviews say there's bugs.

The factory bezel is removable I believe.

I'm running a Pioneer AVIC HD1BT with DLS 3 way components up front and 2 Orion 10's in the boot. 2 JL Audio amps running everything and I originally had the full OE options of NAV and DSP. My friend did the headunit side of things and pretty sure he removed the bezel as opposed to cut it out. Will check with him tomorrow

I have my Appradio3 running through factory DSP system.

Sounds great.

Took the centre air vent out, hoping maybe there were a couple of hidden screws there that would do the trick... no luck. That bezel is huge and wraps behind the dash on the passenger side and the instrument panel on the driver side.....

Mind sharing whether you removed or cut out the bezel for installation?....

I think I cut it.

Not what I was hoping to hear but its looking like I may not have a choice. Thanks for the link. I think you used the same kit that I got. Nice to see how it will look when it's all said and done...
