One item to note is the ZF, the manufacture of the transmission recommends changing the fluid. Lifetime is really an extended life interval. Take it to the extreme. Do you think that after 50 years and 500,000 miles you should not change the fluid? 40 years... From the ZF website:
Temperatures can result in accelerated aging or increased wear of ATF oils. It is recommended, in the event of severe operating conditions, such as:
- frequent highway driving in top speed range,
- offensive, sporty driving style,:D
- frequent trailer operation,
being above average, oil purification (oil change) on automatic transmissions is recommended between 80,000 km and 120,000 km, or 8 years, depending on the load.
In each case, only released ATF oil may be used for oil changes. And oil changes must be performed in accordance with the relevant specifications..

I've been reading different opinions on the transmission oil change, people on both camps.. At this moment the transmission is shifting very smooth. The guy working on my car explains everything in detail and I think he knows his stuff. Not saying putting fresh oil is a bad thing, I want what's best for my ride and would love to put new oil. I just don't want issues afterwards. He is changing the filter and is gonna filter the actual oil so I'll leave it be, unless it looks really bad. The car has 90000 miles and I don't think it was driven hard at all. I guess the old rule is if ain't broke,,
